Let's Start Living The Upbeat Matt Monro

Post by Marty » Wed Nov 09, 2005 9:36 am

of course as a balladeer, Matt is peerless, but i'd be interested in what others think are those tracks that Matt lets go on, swings with the best of 'em and generally makes your world a happier more up-beat place?

I've been listening a lot of late to songs such as "It's a Breeze" , "Around The World" and of course the anthemic "We're Gonna Change The World"

So folks, which are your favourite up tempo Matt tunes?

Yes, great choice of those swinging numbers Marty, and here just three of Matt's up-beat numbers that we like .

"Cheek To Cheek,
"In The Arms Of Love"
" Leaving On A Jet Plane" :P

"Going Places" is a nice up-tempo beat song that Matt did back in the 1960s.

"Hey" for me too!
It's such a child of it's time it feels like it was lifted from the soundtrack of "Sweet Charity" or a similar movie, and it bounces along so well my kids love to dance to it.

NO worries, Gary, there are worse things you could of called me!
But anyway, we both agree, for our children, who needs S Club 7 when you've got Matt Monro? :)

Cole Porter?

Post by pierresoko » Fri Feb 17, 2006 8:32 pm

Michele:

Do you mean Cole Porter's tune "It's Alright With Me"?

(It's the wrong time/and the wrong place/though your face is charming it's the wrong face?)

WHEN did Matt record it?? With whose chart/band? Where is it currently available??

I'm full of questions!!

Cheers,

Peter
