I just noticed on BBC4 tonight at 10pm The Julie Andrews Hour with Sammy Davis Jr, I'm a a big Sammy Davis fan so I must record that.

Thanks Karl, Sammy Davies was in a class of his own, and Julie Andrews an unforgettable singer and actress.
Thank goodness for shows like these, considering the repeats we've had over the Christmas, even some of them being repeated the next day or so.

I really loved this show-I did not want it to end---but I did not think the day would ever come, when I would hear Julie Andrews singing "Hound Dog " !!!!!

I recorded it but flicked over during the ad's and it looked good. I saw a quick clip of Just You Wait 'Enry 'Iggins.

Julie Andrews' singing "Hound Dog". Wow that's a first!! She is so cool. I always liked her and Shirley Jones.
Karl, you should catch "Mr. Stink" if you get an hour to spare. It's well done and true to the children's book with very minor changes.

She was actually singing it with Sammy Davis , and Rich Little--but yes, it was a different side to Julie. At the beginning she sang "How are things in Glocca Morra", which I preferred--I think that only Elvis can sing "Hound dog"

Much as I admire Julie Andrews, and enjoyed most of the show with Sammy Davis, I hav to say that her attempt to rock with Sammy just didn't convince me; she looked totally unsuited to it and I expected her to burst into "Just a spoonful of sugar..." at any moment. I also started to watch the film she was in that came on after it, 'Victor/Victoria' (i like the theme song to it, "Crazy World", which Johnny Mathis recorded with Henry Mancini) , and was quite getting into it until the end of her cabaret routine, when she removed her headdress and the audience all thought she was a man; this just seemed totally unconvincing to me and so I switched off - how anyone could think she looked like a man escapes me and the film lost all credibility for me at that point.
