Matt Monro En Espanol

Post by Wahzy » Wed Nov 27, 2013 9:34 am

Hi Richard.

I've found an album on iTunes which contains Matt's Spanish recordings. A worthy purchase or is there a better alternative I can find somewhere on CD? I really like his Spanish recordings. I did study Spanish in school but still cannot understand the lyrics :P

I have heard a snippet of I Write The Songs in Spanish. It's great. Why oh why did he not record this in English? Love it on Live In Australia!

Just nice to hear something a bit different. Any plans on remastering any Spanish albums anytime soon?

Alex.

Yes That's a remaster of the two 60's Spanish LP's I remastered half of the album - I'm not par5ticulraly happy with it as it was from a less than brilliant source as EMI said they couldn't find the masters - I have since found them. Easy to find if you know what to look for! Problem is that these are Capitol owned so at the moment...........

The 80's Spanish album is only available to download through the company who own the recordings SEI Corp. I have a feeling I Write the Songs would have made it onto his 1985 LP had it been made. He did record it with full orchestra for a radio concert that is no longer in the archives and exists in only passable quality. It wouldn't surprise me if he's recorded it for one of his BBC studio sessions either - these were recorded to be played out in various shows like 'Charlie Chester' on Radio 2. Due to MU rules most of these tapes were wiped after broadcast. I've had a few incomplete snippets of songs sent to me over the years but never in great quality. What is even more annoying is that he often performed songs he didn't record elsewhere. I have 3/4 of a recording of 'Let Me Try Again' which is great and extremely irritating that the beginning is missing.

I don't know how to attach a file on this site but if you key Matt's name on Amazon and go to page 3 of his cd's you will find it, it's a 2007 release.
