THIS IS STRANGE

Post by karl » Sat Nov 30, 2013 2:30 pm

You probably have all heard about the Police helicopter crashing in Glasgow last night.

I have received an email from no reply@yahoo.com using my name and hoping I was not in the pub the helicopter crashed on to.

Now if this person knows me so well that I was in Glasgow why did they not email me through the usual channels and give their name? It's nice for someone to be concerned but not when it's anonymous as its rather creepy!

As it is we had just left a restaurant and got a bus back to where we were staying, we were stuck in traffic and noticed a few Policeman further up the street but before the bus took off they had disappeared and that was around the time of the crash which was very close to where we were. Obviously they had been called to the accident scene.

A sad night in Glasgow and it was also a very busy night with people in restaurants etc; the city is always busy on a Friday night. I feel the pilot did his best to avoid a real tragedy and as that particular pub had a flat roof perhaps he thought he could land.

Yes, I saw the report early this morning Karl. It is tragic when accidents happen at any time of day or night but of course this was a Friday night and weekend and people out enjoying a drink, but thankfully you were safe and not in that pub Karl, but one does sometimes wonder where or how people get hold of your e-mails etc.
There always seems to be a tragedy of some kind at this time of year and our thoughts and condolences go out to those who have lost loved ones and to those many people who have been injured. :( :(

Good to hear from you Karl--I saw the news this morning, and knowing you were in Glassgow this weekend, I was concerned.
Sounds like an awful thing to happen, but I guess it could have been a lot worse-especially on a busy Friday night. Thanks for updating us.

L&H that's exactly what I said there is always some kind of tragedy at Christmas.

My sister called on my mobile as she knew I was in Glasgow too.

Thanks all for your concern, it's kind of spooky to know I was close to the scene. but I'm glad I never witnessed it.

As I said the city was very busy with many people having their Christmas night out, the restaurant we chose had a beautiful real tree about seven feet high, tou can't beat a real tree - shame they make such a mess!

We saw the report of this tragedy on the news this morning. So sad that this happened as people had just gone out to enjoy themselves when disaster struck.

Pleased to hear you are o.k. Karl, it must have been an unnerving experience for you.

Just been along to Morrison's for petrol and on the front of the Evening News there has been a suicide from the Walter Scott Monument in Princes Street Gardens, I heard it was a 30 year old man.

The monument is right beside where the Christmas village and rides are so anyone close by would get a hell of a shock.

More casualties announced, and maybe more under the rubble--just an awful catastrophe.
