'THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM'

If Jack Jones sang the song in 1966, then he sang it before Matt. Matt's version was released as a 45 in December 1968 on the Capitol label (cat no. CL15573). The 'b' side was Come Back to Me.

Does anyone know the title of the CD Album containing The Impossible Dream?

I've only just started re-building my collection of Matt Monroes music...

Was this song used in the advert for I believe a Honda car of some sort?

Hello dottie and all. First of all dottie, the best CD album to buy with "The Impossible Dream" on, is Matts Very Best of album, a top seller on the -music for pleasure - label, which contain's 20 of Matts greatest and most famous recording's. The Impossible Dream is on other Matt album's though, including Matt Monro sing's The Standard's.

Secondly, a few people have asked if it was Matt singing on the Honda advertisement, but that singer is Andy Williams.

I'm glad you've brought up The Impossible Dream. I have it on two CD compilations: the one Robert is referring to (in the previous version) and Hollywood and Broadway. Of course, the singing is excellent, but the transfer to CD sounds poor. It sounds like I'm listening to a 45 rpm record that was played too many times. It sounds like this on both CDs. The violins sound really bad at the end of the song and even the vocal isn't clear.

Has anyone else experienced this poor sound? Is there a CD where it's more clear? I love the song and the recording, but it's almost unlistenable at the end.
