Forthcoming Bassey Twofer

Post by Terence Lee » Sat Aug 19, 2006 12:57 pm

It's wonderful that Beat Goes On Records in UK will remaster and pair two of Dame Shirley's most celebrated albums onto 1 CD. This time around Love, Life & Feelings is paired with Nobody Does It Like Me. From Love, Life & Feelings there are some wonderful songs like If I Never Sing Another Song, Natali, The Hungry Years, Midnight Blue, You Make Me Feel So Very Happy while from Nobody Does It Like Me, gems like Davy, Leave A Little Room, You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, When You Smile will be remastered.

Marian, we are one step closer to getting You Take My Heart Away on CD.

This new twofer can be expected in October.

Hi Terence--I would so love to hear that cd again "You take my heart away"--I cannot even find my old LP of it.

I was reading about the "Singles Collection " from Dame Shirley, but I guess you know all about that.

Those 2 that you describe sound great--some really nice songs there--I will keep my eyes open for that one.

Mono

Post by Terence Lee » Sat Aug 19, 2006 7:01 pm

I have purchased this double CD set from Amazon. All the songs are in MONO exactly the way British fans first heard them on the radio in the 60s. There are some rare tracks here and fans will willingly pack up their worn-out 45s since the CD sounds so much cleaner and clearer than vinyl.Having said that, I must add that my favourite Bassey comes not from the 60s but from the United Artists albums of the 70s. To me, Something, Something Else, I Capricorn, And I Love You So & Never Never Never are masterpieces!

It has been reported that HMV have the singles set for 2.99 (UK pounds) in there sale! A real steal for a 2CD set. One mistake on the set track1 on disc 2 is not the original single version, but a later version that has been used since on later releases, which is a shame as the original is very different.
EMI may release more Bassey singles sets next year so watch out for those. BGO are also planning to release one more CD with two LP's from the 1960's that have also never had a complete CD re-issue.
