Love Songs

Post by Michele Monro » Wed Sep 06, 2006 9:33 pm

No sooner has the ink dried on The Rare Monro, then I get a phone call asking if I would release a love songs double CD for Valentines next year.

Do you have any suggestions as to what you would like included?
Do you have a good title name?

I want to hear your views as I always try and take your comments on board when planning these things.
Enjoy the music

That is very nice that Matt Monro is in such demand and there are multiple reissues each year. I assume these will be romantic love songs to differentiate it from the 3 CD set Songs Of Love.

Track 1 of the first CD of the new "Love Songs" must be:

Till The End Of Time

I've never heard a more romantic song before. And Matt Monro's singing is simply breathtaking.

Hi Michelle.

That sounds great news. "I'll take romance" has got to be included. That could also be a good title, I think.

Hi Michele, Both of our special favourites have got Love in the title "Can This Be Love" and "From Russia With Love" and knowing that to exclude all the repeated songs famously associated with Matt isn't always by choice, either of those songs would be our choice, and a title perhaps...
"This Is Real This Is Love" or "Precious Moments"
A perfect gift solution too.

I have an idea. Just reissue the Complete Heartbreakers CDs! It would save you a lot of work Michelle :D Only joking, of course.....

Hi Michele, firstly, thank you for including some of my suggestions on The Rare Monro. I was thrilled and can't wait for my copy to arrive. As to the title for the Valentines release, I have an LP of Matt from Canada entitled Walk Softly into Love....that's not a bad title.

Love Is a Many Splendoured Thing....which was one of my late mothers favourite songs, she sang it a lot when we were young, and it holds some very precious memories for me.

Title...From Matt Monro, with Love.
old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternatives.

Hi Michelle

Did your Dad ever sing 'Taking a chance on love'? I love that song - it really sums up falling in love :D Otherwise 'You've got possibilites' is one of my faves of his, and Lena & Harry have already suggested another fantastic Matt love songs, 'From Russia with Love'

Hi Mike--in case you have not already ordered or bought this cd yet--the "Rare Monro" includes "Taking a chance on love"---a great song-I cannot wait to hear Matt sing it--but my cd has not yet arrived

Apparently HMV[website] have got it at the moment at a VERY good price.

Many thanks for the info Marian. It is indeed a very low price, with free delivery too. I've just ordered my copy from them. I'd originally ordered from Play.com but they are still awaiting stock.

Marian (the other one!) :D

Hi Marian, we haven't received our CD either. It's called carrots to a donkey with HMV. the gradual process. You get on line, you order. :P then comes e-mail confirmation of your order, you wait for release, then another e-mail confirmation of payment been processed and confirmation that your order will be shipped. :?
We now await confirmation that the order has been shipped.

More suggestions for the Valentines title..."PEOPLE in Love". Friend, Lover, Woman, wife or You made me so very Happy would also make good title tracks.

Matt Monro's version of ONLY ONCE must be included in any love song compilation.

The title of the CD?
Diane's suggestion is excellent.......
With Love, From Matt Monro

But let the letters MATT MONRO be his signature on the cover.

Only Once is a great song but I have to be careful as "Long and Winding Road is coming out as a Two on One CD next year together with "Close to You".
We also have "Matt at the Movies" (working title) coming out in June and I am trying not to duplicate tracks so that everything holds something different.
Not so easy, but keep all your requests coming.
Putting to bed next week
