WIMBLEDON TENNIS

Post by hpooch » Fri Jun 25, 2010 5:56 am

"The Longest Tennis Match Ever" - Nicholas Mahut vs John Isner in the first round of Wimbledon was overshadowed by the World Cup for 3 days.
But John Isner won the match after taking the Fifth Set 70-68 after 11 hours 5 minutes! You could put 7 World Cup Matches in the longest match
in Tennis History, and when you realize that this involved 2 men playing great tennis all through their 3-day match, whereas Soccer involves 22 men playing two 45 minutes of play with possibility of substitution. Hopefully you were able to see their last tennis games played after the Soccer Matches on Wed & Thursday, and if you did, you watched history that will never be repeated by two super-human athletes who wanted to win, and whatever happen to John Isner in the 2nd or 3rd round, Mahut and him will be forever remembered for one of the greatest tennis matches ever!!

What a Week for the USA!! -- We're in the World Cup Round of 16......AND USA's John Isner wins the Longest Tennis Match in History

This was the most wonderful match and a pleasure to watch history in the making. It was a shame either man had to loose such a marathon. :D
Well done to both John and Nicholas. :D

I turned over to the tennis at football halftime, when I saw the score 52-53 I thought the caption on the TV was wrong  ..............it is just incredulous that the final set could end in such a score (70-68) and that Inser could not break the serve of Mahut in the final set until his 69th attempt  .............just totally amazing ......quite bizarre really ........... :) :)

A great game for those who enjoy Tennis that has a special reputation, but it goes to show doesn't it, Victor Henescu's spitting incident, about as low as anyone can get,and no better than football players who would probably get thrown off the pitch
It didn't look like an angry spur of the moment thing either. Perhaps it's something he does. Don't suppose his 7,500 dollar fine will cure it.
