Duet Impossible

Post by Terrajel » Sun Dec 24, 2006 7:58 pm

Ye Gods,

I just watched Duet Impossible on BBC1 and through the magnificence of modern video technology saw Katie Melua and Eva Cassidy perform Somewhere Over The Rainbow. It was simply stunning, and moved me to tears.

I'm glad I had the foresight to record the show as well :)

We did too Terra. Thinking that perhaps we may see Cliff with Matt Alas we didn't but we thought Westlife with Roy Orbison was very good too.

Hi Lena & Harry,

Yes, I agree the Westlife/Roy combination was excellent. I think the most technically proficient one (i.e. hard to seen the joins) was McFly and the young Lulu.

I guess this will start a trend, and we can look forward to more of this in 2007. I imagine the amount of work that has to go into this is unbelievable. Maybe we will see Matt performing again!

Hi Terra, yes Mc Fly with Lulu were also very good. Technology has made vast improvements since the Sinatra duets for instance, which we thought were disastrous, but it wold be nice to see some of Matt's.

I agree that show was amazing--it actually looked as though Roy Orbison was standing next to Westlife! I really hope they do another show--the possibilities are endless.

It is like that fantastic BBC1 advert with Elvis Presley, introducing Stevie Wonder, and loads of others---it fascinates me every time I see it.

I'm really sorry I missed most of it. I only came across it when Peggy Lee was on...

I started to watch it, but to be honest, the ones I saw were not that great! I hate the footage they used of Peggy Lee, as she was not looking at her best, and the guy from Blue didn't really do justice to 'Fever'. Then Boy George came on, and was going to sing with himself! What was all that about! Anyway, I turned over to 'Carols from Kings' at this stage

But am pleased to hear favourable comments about Westlife!!
