Hi to all,
Luke is doing very well and is in the hands of Shenton park rehab hospital, where he was following the hit and run he went through in 2001. We are told this hospital is a world model in rehab and claim the highest success rate in particular, acquired brain injury. We spoke a few days ago with the accident attending police lady, who informed us of the truth re accident as opposed to the rumours.
Following the impact with his legs trapped and his work boots wrapped in firewall, his little car was driven backwards by the larger vehicle he hit, rearward crushing firewall and dash made it possible for his upper body to extend out through the side window behind drivers door when it flipped onto its side dragging Luke with it and that is what tore his liver and kidney when pinned by the roof line just above his hips.
So I guess, Marian and family, all our wishes have already come true, as he will make a full recovery. The police lady had suggested that because he has already made such progress on two occasions and because we took so many photos to show him how lucky he has been, that she wants to try and get Luke involved, at a later date, in public addressing, with young future and current drivers, so who knows his life may take a complete about face.
Again, thankyou all for your thoughts and wishes,
Sincerely Mark

Great to hear that Luke is on the mend - sounds like he has had superb medical care. Interesting about the possibility of Luke spending time with young drivers - very topical at the moment in the UK with a campaign underway to raise the driving age and toughen the driving test

Here I go again, I hear those trumpets blow again.......

Michelle, delighted to see that Luke is on the mend and on the way to a full recovery.
Mike, the debate about young drivers is an interesting one - I read recently of plans to make driving tests tougher, but also that while younger drivers tend to be responsible for more accidents, they also tend to learn to pass their driving tests more quickly than other people. Some have suggested the age for driving should be raised from the current 17 to, say, 21, and advocates of this pray in aid the recent decision to raise the age at which young people can buy cigarettes. Not sure how popular that would be though.
