Hi Lena and Harry-I am really surprised to know that Kathy Kirby did a recording of "Knowing when to Leave"-I would be very interested to hear it--I will have to check that one out.

And yes, I agree that Des O' Connor seems to have settled quickly into "Countdown"--Des Lynham seemed to take longer to relax, but this Des---or "Deso" [as Carol wants to call him ] has made a really good start---to my surprise, I must admit !!!

Well he must be better than the last Des, Marian44! Dec O Connor is a brilliant entertainer! Thankfully he doesn't sing any more! Not hear 'I pretend' - may have to check it out - along with these Carpenter tracks you are talking about!

Marian, I'm surprised you haven't got one of those i-pod radio gadgets that let you transmit your ipod to any adjacent radio - either on the stereo at home, or in the car! very nifty!

Just downloaded some more Bobby Darin and playing them at the moment - 'Thats All' and 'Don't rain on my parade'. Got a very cheap Bobby Album with these tracks on, but then noticed the tiny 'mono' label. so downloaded them of i-tunes - only to discover that they are in fact the same tracks as on this mono album!! DOH!!

Hi Mike-yes I have got a gadget that allows me to play my ipod via my stero etc---but I have also got 2 sets of ipod speakers--1 up and 1 down, that I listen to my ipod in. And as I do not drive, the car bit is irrelevant.

Hi thanks to Lena and Harry, and Mike for your help-I could not find Kathy Kirby on Itunes at all. I have not yet got the hang of searching on there yet--although I have recently managed to download a Bobby Darin track,a Jack Jones track, and 3 Liza Minelli tracks, thanks to a good friend ! You know who you are

Marian, if you go to the Kathy Kirby official website and click on Playlist, a few songs pop up that you can download, unfortunately not the one you want though. They are - Dance on, I belong, It Only Happens When I Dance, Let me Go Lover, Lucky, and My Thanks to You.
If you click on Music/TV - at the bottom of the page there are videos from YouTube.. Haven't checked all these to see what she sings though..
  Marian.

Thanks for that information< Marian--actually , one of the tracks that I have been looking for is "Let Me go Lover", so I will check that out later.

I am just off tonight to my WI meeting--the talk tonight is called "Themes from the Shows" which is just up my street--really looking forward to it.
For the competition, which has to relate to the talk-I am taking my West Side Story CD--in Japanese--in fact it has a different name, as all the male parts are sung by women !!!!

Well we haven't come across the Kathy Kirby record "Knowing When To Leave," probably lost it at a party at some time or the other :(
the song is on her Album "The Best Of Kathy Kirby " but the record that we had was on a 45.
We have downloaded 27 0f her songs tonight including "Let Me Go Lover" so no problem if you don't get it Marian. but "Knowing When To Leave" hasn't come up yet.

Hi Harry and Lena--thanks for the offer--I keep trying to log in to the Official site of Kathy Kirby, and I am always directed back to the AOL search page!! I will check out that cd on Amazon

And as for the I-tunes search---yes I know the search facility--but I must be looking in the wrong section maybe--although I am getting more used to it now.

My WI evening was great-I really loved it---just 3 ladies--one playing a keyboard, and a mother and daughter singing--sometimes together, sometimes apart---and music from all the shows. Some we were able to join in--one was from an old show that I cannot remember the name--Harry and Lena may remember it--the song was called "Poor Jenny"--and we all sang along to "Doh, Ray Me" "My favourite things" and finished with "You'll never walk alone".

My Japanese cd did not even come in the top 3

The winner was a Souvenir Brochure from the current "Sound of Music "

Well, it would be, wouldn't it ???
