Yes, Edgar we have been listening to Ed playing Matt's "Portrait Of My Love" on his last programme. Ed was such a popular presenter. Always everyones favourite, from kids to grown-ups.
Sunday's Radio 2 programmes have now took another nose dive.

Do you listen to Prime Time Radio? It's what Radio 2 used to sound like!

We used to listen to Prime Time Radio on the Saga Radio. It was removed from there but your reminder of this station has shown us that it has since resumed independantly. Thanks Edgar. :)

Lena and Harry, and Edgar what a shame its was Eds final programme I dont think he really wanted to go as he said he was open to offers for the future. As you said Edgar, Nat King Cole and our Matt were the most requested artists over the years on his programme. What a shame there will probably be no more Matt at that time of the day, as I cannot see Johnny Walker playing Matt can you. Ed was starting to break up a little bit towards the end of the programme when he was thanking all his helpers and his listeners from over the years especially when he played The Hollies "He Aint Heavy Hes My Brother" in remembrance of his late brother. I didnt want to see him go and I still dont!!. Its like saying goodbye to a friend.

Hilary, I hope you caught Neil Sedaka on the Russell Davies Radio 2 show this afternoon, even though he wasnt on for long. Most of the programme was taken up by songs by Lorenz Hart. Mr Sedaka was explaining how to pronounce his name, not the posh way Sedaka as in Sinatra, but Sedaka as you would pronounce the end of Acker (Bilk). Hope you got that!!. My very favourite Neil Sedaka song is the blissful "Laughter in the Rain".

It's now available on DAB digital radio and and Sky and ntl tv. I bought a DAB adaptor from Currys, which just plugs into the AUX input on my hi fi and there are some great stations on ther such as BBC7 on which you can hear all the old radio shows like the Clitheroe Kid and Tak it from Here or you could invest in a small DAB digital rafio. Well worth it even just to hear Prime Time.

Thanks Michele, she is a bit better today and we've been using a lot of ice packs to help bring the swelling down. We go to the chiropractor again in the morning and they are very good there so hopefiully we may still be able to go away. Thank you for your concern. ( I cooked the lunch today, and we're both still here, so it must have been ok LOL) :D

Hi Everyone,

Thank you Robert for the info on Neil Sedaka - yes it was a very interesting show wasn't it?

It is very sad to hear that Ed Stewart has left Radio 2.
The music was always good and he along with Sir Terry, he is one of the best radio presenters around.

If anyone likes good music, (and we all do don't we?!) there is a very good presenter called David Allen and he presents a show on BBC radio in the South of England on a Saturday night.
The shows goes out from 9-1am. If you live in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Kent or Southampton, you can pick up this lovely music show or you can listen on-line as they have now gone on the worldwide web.

David plays a song from Matt most weeks. Last week he played "From Russia with love." Afterwards David said that he could listen to Matt all night as he was one of his favourite singers.

This show is really good as David plays the artists that Radio 2 should play more of plus he is such a nice person.
If you send him an e-mail message not only does he read it out on air but also he sends you a personal reply thanking you for taking the trouble to contact the show!! How many presenters would do that?

Sorry to hear about your wife Edgar. I hope that she will soon be a lot better and back to her usual self again.

Best

Hilary :D

Hello everyone. I listened to the first hour of the new Johnny Walker show at 5pm. After an hour I switched OFF. Were are all the songs that we know and love, that we can sing along to.? My own personal opinion is that the BBC have made a BIG mistake by letting Ed go. I will not be listening again.
Just one more thing to say, especially to the Beeb-PLEASE PLEASE BRING ED STEWART BACK.

Hi Robert, what a pity they delayed putting the music playlist on the B.B.C. for the Johnnie Walker show. :( We needn't have tuned in at all if we had seen what we were in for. As it happened luck was on our side, we were tuned in to Eric Hall on Radio Essex. so we only switched on at 6.o'clock and swiftly switched off at 6.10 but the saving grace once again is the David Jacobs collection with our Matt's "If She Walks Into My Life" only the best music at this time of night, including one of my favourite Sinatra tracks "I'll Follow My Secret Heart".
We certainly miss Ed's prog, but hope he's having a " Happy Birthday " today.
Eric Hall is a great East End character, he plays all the good stuff
He dedicated some of his time and songs today to celebrate the Queen's Birthday and asked all the listeners everywhere to stand at the end of his show as he played the National Anthem. Wonderful :)
