Paul--I am surprised you do not know this song--it got banned from the airwaves because it featured a young girl in the lyrics. I love all Dean Friedman's songs.

As Marian said, it is about a girl who works in Macdonald's, and some of the lyrics are

"I'd like an order of fries, a quarter pounder with cheese,
I love the light in your eyes. Will you go out with me please?"

I am in love with the McDonald's Girl…

So whether you could call being a Mcdonalds Girl a Profession is debatable. But it is definately work !

Plus in the beverages quiz-Mcdonalds are famous for their Milk-shakes--preferably chocolate !!!

I was going to try the "Doctor" one myself----
So now I will try this one instead---

"Chim,chimini,chim,chimini chim, chim cheree
A Sweep is as happy as happy can be "

I think we have to be a little flexible with this quiz, as I suspect there are not hundreds of answers like some of the others.

I am going to try

"Princess in rags"--Gene Pitney---you could say that being a Princess is a profession, or a job....

I love this song:

Doctor, Lawyer, Indian Chief by Betty Hutton

Do I get extra credit for including three jobs in one song? :D

You certainly should Paul.

I listed "The waiter and the porter and the upstairs maid" earlier--it was a record that my brother had, many years ago. I thought that deserved 3 points too

I do not think I know your one---unless it is the one that ends--"I'm an Indian too!"--Probably not!

Thanks Marian for the bonus points! I don't think my song ends that way. I'll have to listen to the song again. It's a big band type song. I'm sure Lena and Harry know it! Likely Robert has seen Betty Hutton (or her sister, I get them confused) in his old movies.

Sorry, I've never heard of Dean Friedman or any of his songs.

Here's another song I loved as a kid:

He's An Indian Cowboy In The Rodeo by the Canadian singer Buffy Sainte-Marie

Buffy Sainte-Marie also wrote the standard Until It's Time For You To Go and one of my most disliked songs of all time: Up Where We Belong. It's featured in every production show on a cruise ship and I always feel like jumping overboard!

Paul we remember "Doctor Lawyer Indian Chief "and have the song somewhere on a compilation. It was a big band song.
I'm an Indian too was an Ethel Merman number from "Annie Get your Gun" and Betty Hutton also sang it in a later production with Howard Keel.
How about "The Shoemakers Serenade" with Nat Gonella and his orchestra.
Lou Preager also used to play this at the Hammersmith Palais, and talking of The Hammersmith Palais, it is about to be demolished and flats and offices to take it's place.
There with it goes some happy memories :)

So did we Marian, but this is what is happening now all over London property developers crashing in and the smallest piece of land being swallowed up for building flats. There is so much of this going on around us here. it's an epidemic that's probably happening all over the country. No sooner are places demolished then new buildings have appeared.
A sign of the times.
Anyway after the Shoemakers Serenade it reminded me of the great singer Paul Robeson's "The Cobblers Song."
