American Idol Season 6

Post by paul jh » Sat Jan 13, 2007 1:44 am

American Idol Season 6 begins in the US on Tuesday, January 16, with a two-hour special featuring auditions from Minneapolis. We're all excited about it here!

When are they showing the episodes in the UK?

The auditions aren't my favourite part. I like the middle part when the contestants are in Hollywood and the public can vote for them.

I may be wrong but I think they're on ITV 2 or ITV 4. :D

Hi Paul--yes I am really looking forward to the new season--it is shown on ITV 2 which is a satellite channel, but last season they also repeated it on ITV 1 at the weekend. The first show goes out on Friday---we always have it 3 or 4 days after it is aired in USA.

I wish

My Friday night is much more ladylike than that--it is my craft night!!

We drink nothing stronger than flavoured water, with some biscuits maybe, and do our sewing---or knitting---or whatever.........

Actually, it is good fun.

So far the only singers that stand out for me are:

Denise from the Minneapolis auditions; she sang And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going much better than American Idol season 3's Jennifer Hudson, whose singing is terrible in the new Dreamgirls movie; her acting is adequate but how easy could that be .... basically she was playing herself---a rejected diva. Can you guess I'm not a Jennifer Hudson fan?

The young lady from Colombia. I liked her Call Me, but couldn't stomach Hips Don't Lie.

The sister and brother from the Seattle auditions. She sang a standard (can't recall what) and he sang a Stevie Wonder song.

The 16 year-old daughter of the basketball or football player from Arizona.

I don't know what I'll do if someone else sings Over The Rainbow or Unchained Melody.

I know what you mean Paul, but in my view anyone on last nights show who had the remotest chance of going anywhere at all was the girl who sang "Over The Rainbow" :)

I was out last night, so did not watch it, but hoping to catch up with it this afternnon. I will be back and let you know what I think !!

I am also watching, "So you think you can dance"--2 episodes of that last night on satellite.

Funnily enough Cat Deeley is on both those programes--she is doing well for herself !!!

I have just sat through 4 hours of American Idol. I cannot say that I saw anyone who impressed me at all---I quite liked the sister who Paul mentioned--she sang "Summertime".

I thought that Paula Abdul was very quiet on both programmes--especially the first one-and we did not see much of Ryan--I guess Cat is doing half his job now!

There seemed more crazy and weird singers [!!!] than ever--if that were possible---and was it my imagination or did they seem to let them carry on singing [!!!] for longer than they used to.

It was quite hard work sitting through all that--for the first time I have a little sympathy for the judges---apart from one thing---they get paid !!!!
