Yesterday I listened to a portion of Alan Titchmarsh's Melodies For You. It was an excellent mix of music. I love hearing A String Of Pearls right after an opera aria. One of his goals is to prominently feature music from operettas. I'm pleased about that, as this music must live on for many more years.
Now if his programme could be expanded to 4 hours and take over Johnnie Walker's slot!

I have a DAB radio--but now "Prime time Radio" is gone, I have found nothing remotely like it to replace it. Maybe I cannot get every station where I live.
On SKy TV I found a radio Station called "Smooth"--based around Manchester area, so all the adverts are for places around Manchester--but it plays some good music--but I cannot get that on my DAB radio.
Plus one day last week, I could not get tuned into a single station on DAB--luckily it also has FM.

Russell Davies played Matts "From Russia With Love" tonight on his show between 9 - 10 pm. Tonight's programme was about jumping from one country to another. But Russell did mention that he was talking to Don Black a couple of weeks ago, and that Don was again explaining about Matts drinking habit ...................................................(yawn yawn). Hasn't Don (seems like a really nice bloke), got anything else to talk about
Don did change his words this time though, as last time he said that Matt was drinking before, and after "shows" but this time Don said Matt only drank "after" shows...................................................................... but quite heavily

Well, here we both were thinking that this is the usual, ordinary Sunday, flitting between TV and Radio programmes most of the day, and then came Russell's globe trotting hour.
Not only did we get one of Harry's favourite songs by Matt, but we were informed that Matt never ever drank before a show, but steamed in afterwards.
We just wanted to get up and dance all round the room.!!!

Hi Robert,
Don Black was also a friend of Matt's and he was at one time his manager.
I don't think he meant any harm when he said that about Matt.
Marian is probably right, most entertainers enjoy a drink or two after a performance. It is a way of winding down isn't it?!
What else would you expect them to do - go straight to bed with a warm cup of tea and biscuits?!
