Listening to Russell Davies on Radio2 who is remembering the late great Frankie Laine at the moment, with a bigger tribute to come next week. Russell has played Matt singing "Love Is a Many Splendoured Thing" tonight 8) Russell also mentioned the break up of the "Beautiful South"  on his show tonight. A shock, because Russell just doesn't play that type of music on his show, so its a tribute to the bands popularity to get a mention on the show 8) mind you, he never played a "Beautiful South" song though, just mentioned the break up.

On Valentine's Day, I always listen to Diana Ross and the Supremes Sing Rodgers & Hart. I like their version of My Funny Valentine and many of the other Rodgers & Hart songs that they do so well. I know that Marian from Kent also likes this album.

Later today I will fit in one of my new favourite Matt Monro songs, Love Song. :)

Hi Paul-I do not like " The Supremes sing Rodgers and Hart"--I just LOVE it---especially the new extended version. My original Lp from way, way back, had only about 10 tracks on it--the cd version has at least double that number of tracks.

Listening to The Very Best of David Whitfield at the moment, a bargain at 99p on eBay.. He had a magnificent tenor voice. I liked him as a youngster, so couldn't pass this by.
The lady who sold it to me said she had known him when he was young and a cement mixer driver!

Thanks for the recommendation Marian. I don't recall anyone having written about that EMI twofer before. I have always looked at it in the stores and then put it back on the shelf because I have almost every song on a compilation or The Singer's Singer. But I like hearing the original sequence of songs on these albums so I'll have to purchase it next time I'm in the UK.

Since it's Black History Month in the US, I'm listening to a lot of soul music: this morning I listened to Denroy Morgan, Lakeside, Secret Weapon, and Geraldine Hunt. But right now I'm "listening again" to Sarah Kennedy's dawn patrol programme from this morning.
