Hi Marian, Is the song on "Heart of A Man," "The Rare Monro "or "From Matt With Love." it's elimination time.
Meantime could it be "Ghost of your Past" ??

According to the track listing , this song is only available on 2 LP's or a collection.

But remember--Matt did not sing many Christmas songs!! There are onlya few to choose from. And you will know this song.

Although "Softly As I Leave You" is often associated very naturally with funerals, I never actually interpreted it as a man that was dying. I always imagined a man who has to leave for another reason, maybe to war, and leaves his love asleep, leaving softly so as not to wake her. Maybe just my romantic interpretation!!
Anyway, Christmas! I still can't come up with anything.....

Yes the song is definately about a man who is dying. it has been mentioned somewhere on this forum about it.

Now just think of a Christmas song---that is the opposite of dying !!

Then it must be MARY'S BOY CHILD :? :? :? :? :? but I'd never have got it (if it's correct) without all the clues....

Of course!! The opposite to "Softly, as I leave you"--"When a child is born " ! I did not think that would be so elusive.

You turn, Marian, to catch us out !

No, sorry Lena and Harry.
Actually, I'm going to change my clue a little. I don't think it's quite right as it is, so after I've changed it, have another think..

Is it "Let Me Sing and I'm Happy" :?:
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(
