Hi everyone--we are getting some great choices here---I particularly like "A Fine Romance"--it's one of those songs that you would think that Matt had already sung

Lena and Harry, you made me laugh with the lines you chose from that song

Another great oldie--

"It's all in the game"

"Many a tear has to fall---but it's all in the game"

I guess we've all been there at one time or another!!!

Hello Lena and Harry and everyone. Ricky Nelson may have recorded the song "Its all in the Game", but I think the most famous of the recorded versions is by Tommy Edwards.

By the way Lena and Harry, how did the "Sinatra" tribute go last night. Did you enjoy the show, please let us know how how it went and if you enjoyed the experience.

My tears will fall now that your gone :(

Hi Robert , not sure if we've we heard the Tommy Edwards version. of It's all in the game We'll investigate.

As for the Sinatra Show Robert, we thought it was fantastic, we both thoroughly enjoyed it, superb musicians, wonderful dancers and choreography. and some nice rare footage along with Franks story.
We recommend it. Great entertainment. :)

Hello Lena and Harry. I'm pleased that you enjoyed the concert, I thought that you would.
Another song I think Matt would have sung to perfection is the Ole' Blue Eyes song "It Was A Very Good Year". Franks version of the song has an absolutely magnificent arrangement, I think by Nelson Riddle. So Matt would have had to go a bit, to better Mr Sinatras version. I love the song.

# And now I think of my life as vintage wine,
From fine old kegs,
It poured sweet and true,
From the brim to the dregs#

My tears will fall now that your gone :(

Hi to everyone---I have heard really good reports of the Frank Sinatra Show--I would have loved to go, but it is just not possible at the moment for me. I did read that it may be released on dvd.

I do not think that Ricky Nelson ever sang "Its all in the game"-I do not remember ever hearing it. But Tommy Edwards certainly did---he had a big hit with it, way back--a nice version. I have also heard Johnny Mathis and Cliff Richard sing this song.

Another golden oldie--from a musical--often sung as a duet--from Carousel [my favourite musical]

"If I loved you"

"longing to tell you, but afraid and shy---I'd let my golden chances pass me by"

Somone will probably tell me that Matt recorded this, but I heard Harry Secombe (another fine Welshman!) yesterday singing If I Ruled the World", I thought "Matt would have done a fine job of that!

Hi---there have been some really interesting choices already, but I bet there are loads more out there.

I have one that I think was written just for Matt to sing---I have great versions by Mel Torme, Johnny Mathis, Rod Stewart, Michael Buble, Bobby Darin---but I think Matt would have given them all a run for their money . The song is simply called

"That's All"

I can only give you love to last forever,
And a promise to be near, each time you call.

Hello Mariana44 and Edgar. Can I just go back to Edgar's post concerning Harry Secombe. I think Harry Secombes version of "Jerusalem" is the best ever version. He makes it sound so emotional. A couple of years ago I bought a Songs of Praise CD, just because Harry's version of Jerusalem was on it.

My tears will fall now that your gone :(

Hi Robert, Maria, Edgar and all, We agree with your comments on Sir Harry Secombe's "Jerusalem Robert. We have included many of Harry's recordings on programmes for GMMY Radio. One of them begins with Harry singing that lovely ballad, " Life Is nothing Without Music " how true those words huh!! and we can just hear Matt singing this one. :) : :) :

Hi all---it seemed kind of strange to see "Jerusalem" mentioned----I sing it once a month with my WI colleages, so it is very familiar to me.

And on rare occasions, even with 50 middle aged [!!!] women singing, it can be very moving.

Hello Mariana44, Lena and Harry and all. "Jerusalem" is such a moving song no matter who sing's it (even WI middle aged women !! I guess)  The song was even sung during last years "Ashes" triumph, and it is often sung at Rugby Union Internationals. There have been calls for the song to replace our "National Anthem" but I think that is going a bit too far. Does anyone agree of disagree with that. But to me "Jerusalem" is Harry Secombes song. It suits his singing voice down to the ground.

Let me get back to the actual subject of this page now. A song I can hear Matt singing, from one of the musicals. I cannot remember which one at the moment, i'm sure someone will let us know is "Zipperdydoodah" I don't know if the spelling is correct, as Google don't seem to know the song, when I tried to check the spelling. I can just hear Matt singing this one. Also the song would go nicely in the in the "New Game" quiz, as there are no other Matt songs beginning with the letter Z.
By the way Lena and Harry in your previous post above, can you let us know who Maria is please
