So glad you watched all 5 hours of AI6, Marian! It was sad to see Nick and AJ go; neither of them would have won the competition, but they deserved a spot in the final top 12. I thought Nick's Fever and AJ's Feeling Good were fantastic. As a side note, has Jack Jones' Feeling Good ever been placed onto a CD? I have it on an old cassette tape, and I would love to have the definitive version of Feeling Good on CD.

I agree, I won't miss either of those exiting girls. I would have loved to hear Melinda sing the verse of My Funny Valentine, but since they are only allowed to sing 2 minutes (to meet the attention span of a mainstream American), there would not be time.

Agree 100% on Kellie Pickler, except many of us considered her country bumpkin routine to be fake last year. It seems she's had major enhancements in the front and back. She looked terrible and sang poorly.

I can't wait Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday AIs.

Jack has included that song on several albums---
"The Impossible Dream"
"Feeling good"
"Simply"
"Bewitched"

Not sure if any of those can be bought as a cd.
I had not realised that "Feeling good" was written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse, over 40 years ago---or is there another "Feeling good"??

We have all 3 shows back to back on Friday night, into Saturday morning !! I guessed it was to do with the time thing that Melinda had not sung the verse to "My Funny Valentine"

It does seem unusual that Jack Jones recorded the same song on four different albums. Perhaps Marian from Reading will help clarify.

Leslie Hunt and AJ Tabaldo each sang the Anthony Newley/Leslie Bricusse Feeling Good. I don't know of any other Feeling Good.

I think a couple of those albums are compilations---yes Marian will know more . I thought I knew most of the songs that Anthony Newley had written-I still cannot believe that I did not know about that one.,

Hi Paul and Marian. Yes, you are quite right about the albums "Feeling Good" is included on Marian.
It gets complicated because "The Impossible Dream and "Feeling Good" are virtually the same album, the first being released by Kapp in the U.S. and the other in the U.K. on the London label.
There is just one change of song, "The Impossible Dream" is replaced on "Feeling Good" by "A Beautiful Friendship."
To further complicate things there is a compilation "Feeling Good" on the Coral label with different songs.
"Feeling Good" is the work of Bricusse/ Newley, from "The Roar of the Greasepaint".
To complicate the issue further, there are two recordings entitled "Bewitched". The original on both Kapp and London labels.
The compilation "Bewitched" is available on CD (Carlton 30359) This includes "Feeling Good", as well as a nice selection of JJ's other songs.
I was lucky enough to be involved in a small way with this CD, providing the photographs of Jack for Gerald Mahlowe who wrote the sleeve notes.

Thanks Marian for the information on Feeling Good by Jack Jones. I just checked HMV's website and the only CD currently available containing Feeling Good is The Impossible Dream. I will search the racks at the HMVs and Virgin on Oxford Street the next time I'm in London. I'm sure I'll find Feeling Good on a CD. I'll never find it in the United States. :(

Bewitched does not appear on HMV's website, but it may still be in the Oxford Street stores. So I'll check for both Bewitched and The Impossible Dream when I'm in London.

It's not on my copy Marian, only on the compilation CD as I mentioned above. These are the tracks on the Kapp album "Bewitched"..
Love with The Proper Stranger.
The Mood I'm In.
Bewitched.
Right As The Rain.
Luck Be a Lady.
Far Away.
It Only Takes a Moment.
I've Grown Accustomed to her Face.
I'm Old Fashioned.
Don't Rain on My Parade.
From Russia With Love.
Rosalie.

There's a copy of the compilation Bewitched on eBay at the moment. New and sealed - £4.50 at present.

You'll have to watch "The Impossible Dream" too Paul. The version on CD,
by MCA has an entirely different track list. Feeling Good does not feature.

This is all very confusing--my cd of "Bewitched" has 24 tracks--none of them are the same as your listing apart from the title track--this is on MCA records, essential gold. "Feeling good" is on there.

My cd of "The Impossible Dream " has 12 tracks--including "Feeling good"
and is on the "Collectors Choice"

It is confusing isn't it Marian. I think your Bewitched with 24 tracks must be the same as the compilation I mentioned but on a different label.
The original Kapp Bewitched I don't think has been released on CD.
The other you mention must be another compilation I think.
Anyway, now we've totally confused Paul (or Jeff) I think we'd better leave it alone!!

Well, we finally have a top 12: some okay singers, a couple excellent, and several poor. My picks for the top 6 are:

Melinda Doolittle (still my favourite)
Lakisha Jones
Gina Glocksen
Brandon Rogers (still my second favourite)
Stephanie Edwards
Chris Sligh

...but it's likely Blake Lewis will make the top 6 and Stephanie won't.

Hi Jeff-I pretty much agree with your final 6. I was very surprised to see Sabrina and Sundance as the last 2 to go--I guess, that most were thinking like me, and expecting Haley and Sanjaya would go. I just do not recognise many of the songs they sing.

Carrie Underwood did not look nearly as pretty as she used to look, and when I saw Fantasia the other week, I thought she looked awful--but at least Carrie sounded good.
