I listened to David Jacobs L&H 8) I can't ever remember hearing a Frances Langford song on his show. So I sent an email suggesting a Frances song be played in the future, so if one appears it may be because of my email

That's great Robert, :) We are sure that David would have played some Frances Langford in the past, but David has given the opportunity for requests on his web-page so we shall be listening for Frances Langford, and know that this will be from you.

Thats if David does play a Frances Langford track :?: A couple of weeks ago David mentioned that the quality of some of the 30's and 40's songs taken from old 78's were not top quality for the radio, so I did suggest a song or two be taken from the "So Many Memories" album, as the quality on that album is top class 8)

Ah - me and my 70s/80s TV jingles memory - how can you all have forgotten that it was for Vicks 'Sinex' nasal spray!

Back to Dame Vera for a moment: I'm really enjoying this special on Radio 2. I was only familiar with her hits (Auf Wiedersehn, White Cliffs Of Dover, Yours), but she sounds lovely on everything David Jacobs is playing. I plan to "listen again" to part 2 before part 3 comes on soon. I loved her It's A Sin To Tell A Lie, as well as so many others David has played snippets of. I hope all these songs are on the 2 CD compilation to be released soon. I'm also enjoying her stories and descriptions of the various performances and recordings. As they said, she was and (likely still is) the girl next door.

The Vera Lynn Documentary a short while ago was very interesting--I think you would have loved it Jeff, Maybe it will be repeated along with Doris Day, Petula Clark, Doris Day, Alma Cogan--I am keeping a lookout for them to be repeated !!

Having lived just 7 short miles from Dover for 30 years, it's always a pleasure to here that song. Happy Birthday Dame Vera and so glad you've allowed Neath's own Katherine Jenkins to be the new Forces Sweetheart.

As far as we know, this coming Wednesday, the Third part of the tribute to Vera Lynn will include those celebrities who joined Vera on her Birthday celebration at "The Imperial War Museum." including Katherine Jenkins.
