Hi Marian, Gone With The Wind ..... Vanished, Flown Away, Disappeared It was a referral to Tara Parker Tompkins making a return to normality and winning first place in the long drawn out farce.
"Tara" was the name of the cotton plantation in Georgia in "Gone With The Wind".
We know what you mean though, we're the same and it's part of the fun, but we're still trying to work some of them out even now, and it's not easy
Oh--thanks for that Lena and Harry-I see that now--the triumph part is Tara winning!! I knew about Tara in "Gone with the wind"--very cryptic clue-Marian did well to get it so quickly. Sometimes it is harder to think up a good clue, than to guess the answer--but all good fun!!!
You're right Marian, well done! Your turn again....help!!
I was thinking along the lines of a cottage being the opposite to a castle, and "my home is my castle" being said by someone who loved their home and wouldn't be putting it up for sale!!!!!
You were very close then John, definately thinking along the right lines.
Marian was closer though, now we have one of her great puzzlers again!!!!!!!!
Sorry about that !! My brain just wants to make them as difficult as I can--as I say--half the pleasure is in thinking up a really good clue.
The more I think of Harry and Lenas last one, the more I realise how clever it was!
Here's a small clue to mine---the road part is irrelevant---ignore it !! It is just there to make sense of the "B", which is an important part of the clue-along with "Bumpy"
