Slightly changing the subject, but along the lines of other movie stars, I've just watched Oliver (with my 4 year old daughter) for the 1500th time, I reckon this is just about the best British film i have ever seen.
Cannot believe Ron Moody never won an Oscar for his performance...absolute genius.

Hi Gray---yes I also love "Oliver" one of my favourite musicals--my husband and I watched it many times, before he passed away last year. He did a really good impression of Ron Moody--{got to pick a pocket or two} I saw this show at the Palladium with Jonathan Pryce as "Fagin", but nobody could compare to Ron Moody.

I expect you know that Jack Wild [the Artful Dodger} died just recently, after a long illness---I love the end of the film ,when Dodger and Fagin, go skipping off together---they do not make films like that any more!!

Yes Gray and Mariana44. We agree, Ron Moody was wonderful as Fagin in the film Oliver, and the almighty success of the film was because every song was a winner.
Mariana44, we also saw the show, Oliver at the London Palladium, but with Robert Lindsey as Fagin, but none could come anywhere near Ron Moody. :)

Hi Gray, Marianna 44 and Lena & Harry

Oliver is one of my favourite films to, and that of three of my grandsons, they come over every sunday for dinner and they always ask to watch Oliver on the telly in the kitchen while I am cooking, and we all sing along, quite a din sometimes because neither of us can sing in tune, also my eldest grandson was in a production of Oliver at school last year, it was great.

All the best to everyone

Hi Everyone, thanks for your replies,

I also saw Oliver at The Palladium, with Jim Dale as Fagin.
I have to say he was tremendous and the production was stunning, I really, really enjoyed it.
It was the Saturday afternoon entertainment as part of my stag-do trip to the Big Smoke, so very memorable for many reasons!

Anita, thanks for your story.
I can just picture the scene, all your family crowded round watching you cook, singing, "Is it worth the waiting for, if we live till 84, all we ever get is gru...el!"
:)
