The Ultimate Matt Monro

Post by len & freda » Tue Apr 03, 2007 1:12 pm

For some unknown reason the Ultimate Matt Monro C.D., must have slipped through our net. Ordered yesterday from Amazon, arrived today
Played as soon as it arrived, many songs we have not heard him sing before, as usual he cheered up a very overcast and miserable day.

Happy belated birthday Michele.

Hi Len and Freda, this is another great CD with all the favourites and Two others that we specially like "What To Do" and "Southern Star"
and then the previously unreleased "One Voice."
Just the kind of day to sit indoors listening to Matt. :) It's been a cold blustery day here in London Town. That must mean that Easter is upon us.

The forecast is better for tomorrow, Lena and Harry, who knows you may be sat outdoors sipping lemonade. :) :P

It's been interesting to read Michele's comment in her 'Spotlight On...' feature this month regarding younger generations embracing Matt Monro's music (possibly through movies such as Italian Job or From Russia With Love, me thinks...?).
Anyway, very recently I lent a colleague at work 'The Ultimate...' cd and asked him a few days later if he'd had chance to hear it.
"No I haven't" he replied, "I can't prize it away from my (15 year old) daughter". :)
Which was great to hear.
:)

That is good news Gray :D :D

Going back to Micheles "Spotlight On" this month, Michele mentions that Matt Jnr was named Matt Monro Jnr at birth. So question :?: did Matt Monro senior have his name changed by Deed Poll to Matt Monro, as HIS birth name was Terence Parsons. Michele has also taken the Monro name, so I assume Matt did have his name changed.

Strange or by accident maybe :?: but everyone's names (forename and surname begin with the letter M) -
MATT MONRO
MICKIE (maiden name Schuler)
MATT MONRO Jnr
MICHELE MONRO
MITCHELL
MAX

Deed Poll

Post by Michele Monro » Thu Aug 02, 2007 4:51 pm

Dad had his name legally changed by deed poll. I was born Parsons and then had it legally changed. Matt Jnr was born a Monro.

We also had two dogs, Moet and Mr Magoo, a Mercedes and a Mini.

Mitchell was born Parsons and kept that surname.

Mum's maiden name was Schuller and she was born Renate and changed her name to Mickie long before meeting dad.

By the way my name is spelt with one 'l', Michele
I have written a whole section on the reason behind all this in the book!!!

The Book

Post by Michele Monro » Sun Aug 05, 2007 5:10 am

Sorry to tell you that there is a lot more to the story than that. I think the book will be well worth reading. I am habing great fun writing it although it had to be put on hold since my illness in April but I will be seriously putting my back into it once I get home.
