yes, they really said this

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Thu Jun 10, 2010 11:21 pm

With the football about to get underway, we thought to keep us smiling along the way, regardless of winning or losing we could post some quotes that we've seen or heard of from the players, pundits and managers of the past and present.
Here are a few to start.

"I never comment on referees, and i'm not going to break the habit of a lifetime for that pratt..(RON ATKINSON.)

When you are 4 up, you should never lose 7-1 (LAURIE McMENEMY.)

Winning doesn't really matter as long as you win (VINNY JONES.)

The Germans only have one player under 22 and he's 23.(KEVIN KEEGAN)

That is a quote by the legendary late manager
of Liverpool FC, Bill Shankly, Marian(a). The complete quote is:
'Football isn't a matter of life or death,
it's more important that that.'

"They think it's all over....it is now"! Kenneth Wolstenholme I believe, as the final goal went in at the end of England's winning match to win the World Cup 1966.
( I could be embarassingly wrong, as I haven't checked!)

A couple of days after Englands first game and the world cup howler.
Steven Gerrard said..... The whole team is behind Robert Green.
That's a good place to stand

Within minutes of Robert Green's fumble.
You've got to hand it to him---because he won't catch it.
