What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
I was listening to Radio 2 and I got kicked out for some reason. I have a new computer, so perhaps my real player isn't installed properly. Or the BBC may be down for maintenance.
If you look for Dame Vera Lynn in the shows, you won't find her. So pull up the "listen again" feature for someone else, like Sarah Kennedy. Then you'll see a long alphabetical list of all their other personalities and programmes. Scroll down to Vera Lynn: Still Our Sweetheart. Select it and then you can listen to the programme.
I hope it works Robert.

Jeff--you may be interested to know that the first "WI" was started in Canada , about 90 years ago. It was originally meant for rural areas to bring women together, but now they are opening in even the suburbs of London. I like it because I have many friends there now-I have had a great deal of support from them--and I have learnt a lot of new--but not neccessarily useful---stuff !!

Robert -- They have now removed the Dame Vera Lynn programme, so you won't be able to listen to it. Last night was your final chance.
I don't think we have WIs in the US. My grandmother used to attend the Women's Auxiliary, which I thought had to do with World War I, but I'm not sure.
Back to listening: now it's Eternal, a 1990s girl group with some very good songs: I Wanna Be The Only One, Don't You Love Me, Stay, Angel Of Mine, and Power Of A Woman.

Were Eternal big in the US then? They were the UKs biggest girl group of their time and much more funky R & B than the rest of the UK vocal groups of the time. We are having 'The Only one to hold you' played at out 'do' next month!Back to listening: now it's Eternal, a 1990s girl group with some very good songs: I Wanna Be The Only One, Don't You Love Me, Stay, Angel Of Mine, and Power Of A Woman

Robert - I forgot to answer you earlier. I don't know what Americans see in Joss Stone. I think they like hype over talent and creativity. When I heard that album at Borders, I heard nothing innovative. It was the same old hip hop sound. It's flopping badly in the UK -- currently 73 on the albums chart!
Michael - Eternal only had one hit in the US: Stay. During my trips to London in the 1990s, I would hear some of their records on the radio (as I couldn't listen via the internet then); so that's how I know them. I Wanna Be The Only One is a perfect song for your event next month. It was their only #1 record. I still hear it on Radio 2 fairly often. My favourite Eternal song is Don't You Want Me.
Right now I want to be listening to "Stay The Night" by the new group Ghosts. I don't have it yet, but it was in my head when I awoke this morning. I'm also loving the new song Stop Me by Mark Ronson and Daniel Merriweather. Right now on Radio 2 I'm listening to It's A Shame, the best song by The Spinners. Since yesterday was Easter I listened to Missa Criolla by Ariel Ramirez, hymns sung by the Merseyside choirs, and the Easter portion of Handel's Messiah.

Very impressed that you have the forum's very own Gray in your i-pod shuffle, Marian. He does sing a fab rendition of A Man Without Love.
Right now, I'm listening to the Scottish group El Presidente's big hit from last year "Turn This Thing Around". It's a cool record, but their vocals can't compare to Gray's.
