Hi Terence and everyone--I knew it-I have just found another artist to duet with Johnny Mathis---Monica Mancini--the talented daughter of Henry Mancini--the cd is just called Monica Mancini and the song is called "Dreamsville"--I have to say there are many more Mancini tunes they could have picked that would be better than this one! The Lena Horne cd is called "We'll be together again" and the duet track is "Day follows day"-I really like this track.

I have decided to listen to Johnny Mathis tonight, and at the moment ,it is "Oh, that Feeling"---from 50 years ago---but to me it still sounds really great !!!

Hi Everyone

I am playing, in the house and also in the car, Matt sings Monro, Matt Jnr singing duets with his dad. very very enjoyable, I only brought it a few days ago and have been playing it non stop, there are a couple of tracks that I havent heard before which makes it more enjoyable.

Does anyone else have this cd, i do think it was recorded some time ago.

Best wishes

Anita

Hi Marian

I really like Monica Mancini's voice especially her version of Cinema Paradiso. I think she was the first to sing it in English.

Hi Anita and Terence--yes I also enjoy the Matt Monro Jr Cd---It was actually first released some time ago, but has fairly recently been rereleased, I believe.

I do have the "Cinema Paradiso "cd of Monica Mancini--the first cd of hers that I bought-some lovely tracks---

Listening to the singles Ella Fitzgerald recorded for Verve. Outstanding ones are Swingin' Shepherd Blues, But Not For Me & Desafinado. Great double CD set.

Currently, along with Matt Monro CDs, I have the new album (Eyes Open) by Snow Patrol in my CD player. So far, it's the best album of 2006. Their new single, Chasing Cars, is a highlight and quite moving. There's even a choir on several of the tracks---unusual for rock music. There are loud guitars on several of the tracks, but the songs are lovely. And Gary Lightbody has a pleasant voice---much easier on the ears than Coldplay's Chris Martin and Keane's Tom Chaplin, who's always gasping for air.

Well, how's this for co-incidence. I've just tuned in to Angel Radio and the programme is for Winifred Attwell, the pianist who played such an important part in the beginning of Matt's career A great selection of her music is being played and the story of her career. it's super.

Hello Paul, Lena and Harry, dottie and all. Paul Snow Patrol have had to postpone their US gig's for a few month's as lead singer Gary Lightbody has a problem. By the way Paul, do you know that Snow Patrol are from Ireland. Their last album "Final Straw" was really good, with the single "Run" a brilliant tune.

dottie, I went on Meat's website yesterday and listened to "Monster's Loose", as Meat would say - awesome.
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

Yes, Robert, Radio 1 has been mentioning Gary's voice problems and I read his letter to the fans on the Snow Patrol website. It's sad that this has occurred right when they need to be touring for their new album. Their show in Washington had been sold out, but then cancelled; I think it's being rescheduled for September. Maybe I can see them then.

"Run" was one of my favourite songs of 2004. I'd strongly suggest you listen to the new album. I feel that "Chasing Cars" could become a standard ... it's that good.

Last Recording

Listened to Billie Holiday : The Last Recording.
It's sad to hear her vocal range so diminished but I thought she invested more feeling and expression as a result.
