I watched 'The Prestige' at the weekend, was really looking forward to it because I love mystery movies, but ended up being a bit disapointed as I clocked the twist about half way through :(

Never seen Final Destination 3, John, but somebody at work was saying they enjoyed it a couple of weeks back.
Terence, did you like Fierce People?

The Hitcher

Post by Terence Lee » Wed Apr 18, 2007 5:28 pm

Hi Gray

I only watched 10 minutes of my friend's copy of Fierce People. Decided it's not my cup of tea and switched DVDs. Sean Bean is really chilling in The Hitcher. Highly recommended. John, if you like thrillers that make you jump, this one's it!

pointless remake

Post by Terence Lee » Thu Apr 19, 2007 1:51 pm

Hi John

I yawned my way through The Wicker Man some months ago. It is a pointless remake as I understand the original was much better. What a waste of talent especially Ellen Burstyn's.

Dame Judi Dench

Post by Terence Lee » Sat Apr 21, 2007 2:12 pm

Deja Vu was frightening in this age of terrorism as it was about a bomb planted on a ferry which went off at the beginning of the movie. But the way Denzel Washington unravelled the mystery stretches credibility as he travels back in time to rescue the girl who was already found dead at the beginning of the movie.

Tonight's movie is Mrs Henderson Presents which I believe is a Dame Judi Dench masterpiece.

Dame Judi Dench is fast becoming my all-time favourite actress. She's a delight as Mrs Henderson. Loved her speech at the end of the movie. Now I know what Lena & Harry were talking about.

Yes, it was a great speech from Judi Terence.
Two other nice films with Judi Dench are "Ladies In Lavender"..with the wonderful Maggie Smith, and "Last Of The Blonde Bombshells"

Last Of The Blonde Bombshells was brilliant, some great ladies on this show, including one of the wonderful Joan Sims's last performances. What a superb actress she was, greatly missed, as most of her CARRY ON co stars are.

I bet no one watched the film on BBC2 tonight, as you will have been watching your REALITY shows and Dame Edna. "The House of Sand and Fog" was really excellent, starring Jennifer Connolly and a very good performance from Ben Kingsley 8)
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

Hi Lena & Harry

I watched Ladies In Lavender some time back and enjoyed it very much. Maggie & Judi were an unbeatable combination.

As for The Last Of The Blonde Bombshells, I notice that it is on sale at Amazon. I haven't seen this one on sale in Malaysia at all. Curiously enough, Dame Cleo Laine is in it too. I wonder what role she plays.

We agree Joan Sims was a great character actress John in The "Carry On Films" Who could forget her as Gran in "Till Death Us Do Part".
Terence, Cleo Laine (singer) plays the part of Gwen in the film

It is well worth a watch, Terence.
Watched THE PRESTIGE last night with Michael Caine, Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale, about 2 rival magicians, it was one film I didn't think I was going to enjoy, but turned out to be very good.
