Any Shirley Bassey Fans out there?
Marian and Marian - So you noticed that something happened to the font size for one of the artists. I wonder how that happened?
I said I wouldn't comment on that person for a while. But I will inform you that he is currently number 2 on the album midweek chart. I wonder how many copies all of you have ordered to get him that high placement?
I could recognise exactly 20 of the top 30 physical singles if I heard them on the radio.
On the official singles chart with downloads included, my recognisable factor increases to 36 out of 40!

Thanks Paul!
Shirley in the Top 20? Wow! I keep getting emails from an Ed Burrow, who appears to be in her PR team. But with that song she deserves a top placing - it's a good 'un!

Unbelievable!
It's quite amazing to think that when I first mentioned Shirley Bassey's proposed new single (21 Feb) it would provide us all with 9 pages of chat! Thank you!
Terence - The British music industry trade paper Music Week publishes many charts. The official top 75 singles chart now includes any songs that can be downloaded or purchased in a store or online. They also have airplay charts, R & B charts, dance charts, classical charts, etc. I always try to buy MusicWeek when I'm in London since I'm a chart freak.
The physical singles chart includes a sales ranking of the songs that have had a physical single issued (CD, cassette, 7, 10, or 12 inch vinyl, memory stick, i.e., anything besides digital downloads). I receive the physical singles chart through a website. I haven't been in London since the last Fans Reunited, so I'm not entirely certain that the physical singles chart appears in the published Music Week paper. Since I'm very pro-CD and vinyl singles, I consider the physical singles chart to be official, as do other chart fans. So, yes, Shirley Bassey made the top 20!

Remix album
Ken Bruce played Get The Party Started on Monday. It sounded very good on the radio. I hope Radio 2 plays it regularly, but it's not on the playlist yet. The album release date has been pushed back to the 25th of June according to HMV ... probably to coincide with her upcoming Glastonbury appearance.
The new appears to be an album of mostly remixes. I'm not sure it will appeal to longtime Shirley Bassey fans, but I think it sounds interesting.

New CD
Hi Paul
The new CD will appeal to all fans of Shirley Bassey as it has stunning versions of I Will Survive & Get The Party Started as well as innovative remixes of her older recordings. Hopefully there will be a CD single of Get The Party Started with some remixes.
Paul, did you purchase the CD single of Shirley's That's What Friends Are For? It is going out of print, so hurry.
