Marian, that is an amazing anology regarding Eternity :)

Her's another useless snippet for you, did you know that copper wire was invented by two Scotsmen fighting over a penny :)

Seriously, here's a another space fact.
If it wasn't for Jupiter, we wouldn't be alive today.
Jupiter is such a huge body, it acts as a planetary dustbin, sucking into itself by use of gravity all sorts of asteriods and metoers flying around our Solar System that would otherewise fly into us!

Robert: Was the Don Black book any good? I think I would like to read that myself. Might see if York Library have it...

Love reading all these little snippets of information from Gray and Marian
I have put bids on Don Black's book and "Biography of London" on ebay.
Please don't anyone outbid me. There are plenty of copies on Amazon :!: :!: Really low prices for Don Black,  but the postage is quite pricey.

Ì have just checked out Ebay for Don Black's book, and the first thing I spotted was a cd called "The Don Black Songbook" at only £1.99 [Buy it now] contains lots of tracks sung by Matt, of course, So I snapped that up.

There was one signed copy of the book. plus the one that Marian is bidding on---funnily enough nothing on Amazon--although they did have the cd [above] for £7.99.

Just checked out Amazon again, as I thought it strange that they did not have it--but found it this time--several in the used and new, round about £1.00--I got a new one for £1.20. So I am really pleased with that.

Who remembers the song that Don Black wrote for Eurovision in the early 80's. Sung by Maggie Moone, called "Happy Everything ". I still do not understand how it never was picked to go through to Eurovision--Cannot even remember the song that won---but I often listen to this song, as I bought it on a 45" single--and I love it !!

Marian, you will no doubt know this....Maggie Moone was special guest star to Johnny Mathis on a Four week tour at the Royal Albert Hall, presumably in the Eighties. A picture of her with Don Black and Geoff Stevens on www.moonrivermusic.co.uk.

Hi Robert,

York library don't stock the Don Black book, so I shall definately hunt it down elsewhere, in a book shop funnily enough !:)

Marian, the Don Black/Happy Everything song is going to bug me now, I can almost remember it, it's there on the tip of my tongue, oh, how did it go? I can't quite remember...Doh!
Now that's gonna bug me all day! :) :?

Hmm, Maggie Moon. Was that her real name, I wonder. Didn't she used to appear on "Name That Tune" with Tom O'Connor? I seem to remember her wearing some very slinky, tight-fitting trousers. Don't remember much about the music though!

Yes, Jon--Maggie Moone was on "Name that Tune". Funnily enough she was on the other week, when Vernon Kay did "Name that tune"--although she still looked good, I cannot say that I would have recognised her.

Gray-- here are some of the words to "Happy Everything"

"My love wrapped in a circus poster.

A ??? inside a ring of gold.

All of this and more, will be in the hands I love to hold."

"An ornamental scroll"

They may not be exactly right, as I am not very good at remembering words--it may be enough , for you to get the tune back. Its a very nice song.

Yes Lena and Harry-I did know that Maggie Moone was support act to Johnny Mathis--I think it was in 1980, as I did see the RAH concerts.

Gray, if you cannot find Don Blacks book up there, it is worth checking Amazon--they have quite a few on the used and new section, at good prices---of course postage is extra, but it's an easier way of doing it.

Especially for me, as I do not have the chance to go into a bookshop--apart from Smiths once a week!

Wow--my Don Black book arrived today--I am really pleased---I only ordered it yesterday. The description was "new" and it cost £1.20---and it certainly looks new---just perfect condition---and a hardback--not a paperback. I am really impressed with that service.

Although I have already spotted a mistake---talking about "Born Free", Johnny Mathis was named as one of the singers of that song--well I guess he could have recorded it, but it was definately never released on any LP, single, cd, or whatever. !!

First time I've ever heard of Johnny Mathis singing "Born Free" too. Just goes to show some people don't do their research properly, unless there's something we don't know.

I just took a trip back to the Don Black pages on this forum from many moons ago. I see there was quite a bit written about Don Black's book at that time, and I now know what Robert meant by his comments.
Good to hear you received the book so quickly Marian.

Going back to Maggie Moone singing "Happy Everything" by Don Black for Eurovision, it was in 1980, and apparently this song tied at 131 points with Prima Donna and "Love enough for two"--I cannot remember how they decided which was the one to go through---but as far as I was concerned--it was the wrong song went through then-and I still think it was the wrong song.
