Well, you asked for this Marian so here we go, but we're a bit late for this already chosen group of elderly rockers.
This often harrowing programme last night was about the plight of elderly people facing closure of places that they have been enjoying going to and meeting for so many years that was closing down, in this case a bingo hall, and how a band of these people were brought together with help from caring people in the music business and understanding musicians who even had them practicing in the Abbey Road Studios to make a recording. In this case it was the song recorded in 1965 by.. The Who, "My Generation." and what happiness it brought them. This programme also focused on some of these so called care homes where a hidden camera revealed the shocking and disgraceful things that were happening to these sad helpless people, one home in particular and the vile creature who was running this tortuous dump and raking in a fortune, denied the allegations until the proof was shown to him.
No prizes for guessing what we were wishing him and others like him.

You are so very nearly right John, but not quite.

Lena and Harry. It is dreadful how some of these so called "homes" care for their residents. I was lucky to work for a time in a very good one, but the standard of care varies so much. Peter's mum was in one for a while, actually a Nursing Home. It wasn't too bad, but she did somehow fracture her femur and develop MRSA while she was there. The turnover of the staff was unbelievable, you hardly ever spoke to to same person in charge twice, and the people at the sharp end changed even more regularly. They usually spoke very little English, and had very little training, if any, of how to care for the elderly. My advice, stay away if you possibly can. this includes hospitals!!

I think the group are called "The Zimmers" aren't they? Saw them on tv.
Great stuff!

That's the programme Marian, with Tim Samuels who is so patient, kind and understanding and who started out as a journalist and is now making documentaries, mostly about human justice and peoples rights, including the MRSA that's rife in so many Hospitals. Good on yer Tim. :) :)
