Vera Lynn has been mentioned many times on these pages---if you do a search--[see top of page] it will take you to all the postings on Dame Vera--she is very much admired on this forum.

Well there is a CD of Vera Lynn's songs entitled "Auf Weiderseh'n Sweetheart," which was released in 2003, but as far as I know this was the limit of her singing in German. All tracks are English, apart from those two words.

Nope, she most certainly did record in German...The album was called 'Leg Dein Gluck In Mein Hande.' -I have a few tracks from it such as 'Blutrote Rosen' and 'Sogno D'Oro' and they are German.

Yes, we learn something new every day, I have never heard her singing in German. She did a great country album called "In Nashville" in the seventies, I have mentioned this one before.

She did indeed with Elvis' old backing group 'The Jordanaire's.' -Not her best album, but a good one indeed.

You certainly know your music, Seb. There was just recently a new cd album of her singles, a 2cd set.

Released in time for her 90th birthday, I was absolutely amazed with this album as I only had two of the tracks from it! -I especially love her re-working of 'When A Child Is Born' (There Comes A Day.)

If any other Vera fans out there have any of the following, please, please, PLEASE let me know!

Vera Lynn sings in German CD
Vera Lynn sings Children's Nursery Rhymes CD (The Wonderful World of Nursery Rhymes)
The Early Years Volume 1 & 2 (Certain tracks)CD
Yours CD
Decca Singles Compilation CD
Vera Lynn's Singalong Party (EP)

If anyone has ANY of those, as said, please let me know, and I will pay/trade for them, as then my VL collection is (I think!) complete....

Best
Seb

We have Vera Lynn's albums, but not the nursery Rhymes or the CD of her German songs.
She sang one of the German song recordings on her 90th Birthday tribute with David Jacobs.

I have finally got round to listening to the new Vera Lynn double cd, I purchased it in Uxbridge and it is well worth the wait. This set concentrates on songs she recorded from 1960-77 and there are some great tracks on it, a lot that I didn't realise she recorded like "Let Me Try Again" and one of Perry Como's last minor hits "I Want To Give". A bargain, I thought, at £8.00.
