Yes, Terence and everyone, this is truly exciting! Here is the sales report and analysis from MusicWeek.

"Last year, Tony Bennett became the oldest solo artist to have a hit album. Dame Shirley Bassey is a full decade younger, at seventy, but takes the record for a female solo artist thanks to her new album, Get The Party Started, which debuts at number six on sales of 21,277. Bassey’s highest charting album since 1978, it increases her tally of hit albums to 37 and her album chart span to more than 46 years – both UK female records. The album includes The Living Tree, which made Bassey the first solo septuagenarian singles chart star earlier this year."

Get The Party Started

Post by Terence Lee » Mon Jul 02, 2007 7:06 pm

Camp DSB has just sent this message :

Dame Shirley is celebrating tonight after her new album Get The Party Started entered the Official UK Album Charts at number six. It's her highest charting album since the 1970s. If you haven't got the party started yet, get it NOW!!...

The party doesn't stop here. The Get The Party Started single will be released on 23rd July and features incredible mixes that will really get the party started. The single will also feature the fabulous new music video, currently being shown on the music channels. Click here for a preview from The Box. Also on this site are details of how you can phone or text in your video selection. For DSB it's number 643!

Get The Party Started has been going down a storm in the clubs, so much so that it's already at number 9 in the commercial pop club charts and is the number 4 breaker in the dance charts. All the more reason to celebrate.

Thank you to everyone for your love and support.

Love to one and all from Camp DSB

It's Yoga!

Post by Terence Lee » Tue Jul 03, 2007 7:39 pm

In London the talk of fashionable youth is how does Shirley Bassey, age 70, manage those spaghetti strap evening gowns which show off her impeccable upper arms? Shirley claims it's yoga which she took up in her youth. It keeps her sleek!

Shirley Bassey Inks Deal With Decca

Post by Terence Lee » Fri Jul 20, 2007 7:24 am

Universal Music Group's Decca Records has signed Dame Shirley Bassey to a worldwide recording deal, Billboard.com has learned. The agreement covers the veteran pop diva's current album, "Get the Party Started," excluding the United Kingdom.

That set was released in the U.K. through independent Lock Stock and Barrel Records on June 25. Decca will also give worldwide release to Bassey's next album, which is understood to feature theme songs from the James Bond movies.

Bassey, 70, is famed for her renditions of "Goldfinger," "Diamonds Are Forever," and "Moonraker," respectively the theme songs for the 1964, 1971 and 1979 James Bond movies of the same name.

After the rousing reception she received at this year's Glastonbury Festival, where she showcased "Get the Party Started," Bassey saw a boost in sales of other recordings. Her "This is My Life -- Greatest Hits" saw sales jump 79% immediately after the event.

no chart action

Post by Terence Lee » Mon Jul 30, 2007 7:02 am

The CD Single of Get The Party Started did not even have a placing in the Top 40 this week. Fans think the Dame should have been in the UK promoting the single instead of attending the Red Cross Ball back home in Monte Carlo. Hope Decca will not regret signing up an artiste who will only do limited promos.
