A born entertainer. Always appeared to enjoy his music whenever he appeared.

A wonderful character and entertainer. I met him a couple of times through work as his brother was General Manager of John Lewis on Oxford Street.

I was reading about George Melly's funeral this morning. Apparently he had a cardbord coffin which was decorated by his friends and relatives. Accompanied by a New Orleans style jazz band led by George's old friend Kenny Ball, it was carried into the ceremony, and the band played "When the Saints Go Marching In."
