BBC 2 PROMS...RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Sat Aug 28, 2010 9:13 pm

Have just watched this I hour 45 minutes of Rodgers and Hammerstein's music from the Royal Albert Hall......FANTASTIC !!!! once again the brilliant conductor
John Wilson and all wonderful individual singers, including Kim Criswell who was in the previous concert plus the Maida Vale singers.
Enjoyed it every bit as much as the last concert. :) :)

Oh no-I missed it--hopefully it will be repeated. I had not even seen any trailers for it, so did not know it was even on.

I set it to record but unfortunately it "failed". I think I may have a problem with my Sky+ box as this seems to be happening lately. Also I can no longer pause and rewind live tv. Anyone have any ideas? :?

Have you tries unswitching it from the mains for a while---or taking out your little card for a while.

Also there is a reset button on the front--cannot remember exactly how it works---but you lose everything on your + box.

Another solution--it could be your remote control--I have had various problems cured by a new remote---on Ebay for about £10.00--including PP.

Thanks for the info Marian. Our son sorted it from some info he found on the internet. It's all working fine again now and we didn't lose anything from the planner, which was good!

Good news---last time I had a problem, my whole planner was wiped out---in the end I discovered that the batteries on my remote had run out--and an engineer was due to come out in the morning !!!!! Luckliy I was able to phone and stop him.

I was lucky enough to have tickets! A really enjoyable prom with some outstanding voacl work, John Wilson's orchestra really is quite incredible in being able to recreate the sounds of the 20th Century Fox orchestra. I can't wait to see what he does next year!

That must have been an exciting experience Josh. Brilliant for you to be actually there! :D

To go back to my problem with the Sky + box, I think I know why it happened, and mine was also to do with the batteries in the remote control Marian. They hadn't run out, but were loose and losing contact. If you leave the remote without functional batteries for longer than 10 minutes you need to reboot the Sky Box, which was what must have happened with mine.
I have now made sure that they are securely in place with a bit of packing, so hopefully it shouldn't happen again.
I just thought I would add this in case it happens to anyone else.

John Wilson handpicked "extra" members for his Orchestra, choosing the best musicians from other Orchestras around the world for the Rogers and Hammerstein concert :)
