By the way John, I think your CD came a lot quicker than mine  .................does Maureen sound little bit like Brenda Lee or even Patsy Cline on one or two tracks ? ..............for some reason she sounds different on many of the songs

Hi Robert, I still haven't listened to the other half of the cd yet. I must admit I wasn't keen on track 4, the Eartha Kitt impersonation, and as for Fever, I have to say I really don't like that song at all anyway. I recognized the title song "Like I Do" immediately when I heard it though, have always liked that. I am sure it is an English singer she reminds me of, and yes, she does sound a bit different on a couple of songs. I will probably play some more of the cd tonight, but I am happy with it. :D

Hi Robert. I have listened to some more of the Maureen Evans cd tonight. I haven't found a track I have disliked yet, apart from "Fever" and track 4 which I mentioned before. "Melancholy Me" is lovely, and I like her version of "My Colouring Book". I also remember "I Love How You Love Me", I am sure I have heard someone else sing this though. Quite a few familiar songs on there, a nice version of "What A Difference A Day Made" as well. So far I am up to track 25 called "Pick The Petal". On some songs I think she sounds similar to a young Petula Clark, she sang a lot of these novelty type songs in the fifties too. I think we (or you) spotted a bargain here and I am pleased I managed to find a copy. :D

Thanks for your thoughts John :) .............just a couple of things.........did you have to give the CD a wipe ? and did you have to turn the volume down a little ? ................also John, you will eventually like track 4, it is such a catchy little song :) .....................I am so very happy with the CD, the quality is very good, and John, after a few listens you will love just about every song Maureen sings..........................I'm so glad I discovered Maureen Evans, such a beautiful singer :) :)

Hi Robert, no I didn't have to wipe the cd at first, it was crystal clear. And you are right, it is quite loud, although the quality is excellent, you don't want the volume on too high, do you? I have listened to it all now, and I know who she reminds me of on some of her songs, Ruby Murray. But on others, like I said, like a young Petula Clark. Very happy with it. :D

We are listening to a Michael Buble CD and the track that is now playing is "The Way You Look Tonight".

It's an excellent CD with a really good selection of songs both old and new.

As I recall, that cd with "The way you look tonight" was the first one from Michael Buble-I really love him singing that song, no matter how much Paul disagrees !!!

Did you ever see the "Strictly come Dancing"--one of the very earlier series, where Lilia and Darren danced, while Michael sang that song live--it was just beautiful--I managed to get it copied onto a dvd [along with a few other favourite tracks], and I often get it out and watch it again.

We love Michael Buble, whatever he sings. I always think in these past few years it was Michael Buble who revived the interest in the popular crooners songbook with others like Peter Grant and Shane Hampshieir following. After Three decades of dreary music, heavy metal and rap crap ( apologies to those who like it ) that did nothing for our delicate ears, we have to say when we saw Michael Buble here in London, it was predominantly a younger generation that filled those seats with enthusiastic adoring fans. :) :)
