Help Wanted!
Help Wanted!
Hi there Guys,
I told you you might be able to help, so here goes!
I have tracked down Stereo Masters for the majority of issued recordings but there are a few which currently elude me. This does not mean they don't exist - although this is possible as session tapes for these tracks appear to have been junked many years ago - but the catalogue listings i'm working from might be missing the odd thing (like various artists compilations for instance) which have to be traced from a different angle.
So i'm trying to find out if the following tracks have ever appeared in Stereo anywhere in the world
One Day Soon (English)
The Music Played (English)
Pretty Polly
How Do You Do (This may have been released in Stereo on a Starline album "Let's face the music and Dance" in 1972 but this could just have been mock stereo).
If any of you do have stereo versions of these tracks can you please let me have details of exactly what album it appears on and if at all possible send me a short clip in mp3 format.
Info to:
richard@mint-audio-restoration.co.uk
Thanks
Richard

Thanks for that, Interesting. I have the Capitol tape listings archive and haven't come across that one (they own the Liberty catalogue too!) It may be that they haven't sent me all the Liberty listings.
This (and other foreign archives) may well be the best hope of finding One Day Soon in stereo for instance. Existing records don't give any mixdown details for this song but it may have been mixed for the USA (who put out more albums than the UK most of the time).
Thanks
Richard

'HOW DO YOU DO'
Hi Richard
If I remember correctly, the track, How Do You Do, was released (in full stereo) on the double Matt Monro CD, The Collection (EMI Gold), on 19 April 2004.

This is exactly why I ask you guys.
For some unknown reason I thought it was mono on that disc (especially as I couldn't find the Stereo Master in the archives) SOmetime when you get to close to something.....
Problem solved - Also makes me believe even nore that I'm missing some things from the tape archive listings.
Problem solved with this one.
I should clarify something i've said before about all stereo masters apart from those i've mentioned.
Matt's first two EMI sessions were recorded in Mono Only. Everything else was direct to stereo or multitrack. Now all we are missing are those three other tracks plus 4 out of the six track from the Song for Europe EP (which I forgot to mention before).
