George Harrison Connection?

Post by tollgate55 » Tue Jun 13, 2006 10:02 am

Hi everyone,

I have just registered and have a puzzle for you all. I know that Matt covered many Beatles songs in his illustrious career, but I have a clear recollection from many years ago that he recorded 'Isnt It A Pity' from George's All Things Must Pass album. I have never found any reference to this track, not even on a Beatles site listing all cover versions of their songs. Did I imagine this, or does anyone know if this track is available?

You're absolutely right - Matt did record this George Harrison song. It's the 'b' side to the single, Mama Packed a Picnic Tea (Columbia DB 8788), released in May 1971.

Hi--that is quite a coincidence, as I recently came upon this track--on seeing the title I thought it was the old standard "Isn't it a pity"-so I was quite disappointed when I realised it wasn;t --I did not know that George Harrison had written a song of the same name.. Matt would have made a great version of the original "Isn't it a Pity", I think
