I think it is only next years (2008) "Celebrity" Big Brother that is being axed (because of the racism row this year), but it will be back in 2009

I'm going to add a little defence for "Big Brother" here. As with anything, the first to criticise are those who don't ever watch it, or believe all the rubbish printed in the newspapers. I find much of it very entertaining.

I think you may be in a very small minority , Marian.

Yes, I will admit that I have never watched it--but nothing that I have ever heard or read about it, encourages me to watch it.

As a matter of fact, my TV was on, whilst I had a friend staying here who was just out of Hospital, and she wanted to watch BIG BROTHER.

Boy-oh-boy, listening to all that rubbish on that programme was enough for me.

I'm with Angela and Marian from Kent. I did watch one or two American Big Brother episodes. Couldn't stand it. :(

What night is X Factor on? I'll try to be back at my hotel to watch it. Also, have any new Maria/Joseph programmes begun yet?

X-factor is on Saturday night, I think starting between 7 and 8.

No successor yet to Joseph, or Maria--but we do have the Eurovision Dance Contest this Saturday.

I wonder if Mike will be following this as avidly as the Eurovision song contest ??

Hi all

Big Brother - BOO!! Not watched an epsiode this year - watched it last year as their were a couple of nice people on it but had a break this year.

X factor - last year I didn't watch, but watched the 1st couple of shows and liked it! I just can't believe the ego's some of those talentless people have - and their mothers don't always help! its just scares me though that all the kids around the country only dream of being a star - what about a vet, doctor, dentist or scientist!

Marian - I didn't realise the EDC was on until Marc was reluctant to come and pick me up from the station at 9pm on Saturday - and now I know why! He didn't want to miss any of it. I've commented on it elsewhere to save you all the boredom of reading my comments twice
Michael

Here I go again, I hear those trumpets blow again.......

Did anyone watch the XFACTOR last night ???
We have got past the stage of feeling amazed and baffled at the antics of these entrants, and even sad for them particularly when they have such faith in themselves.
We are hooked. it's such a laugh.  Last night was no exception, we had pregnant Kate who after been given advice to get her teeth fixed and in spite of her taking a risk of giving birth at the time of the finals, was given a yes  and the minute her and her bump disappeared from sight, Simon turned to the panel and said I think we've made a mistake and ran outside to give her the bad news.
Louis was in trouble and got an earful of threats when he told an irate man that he was a pub singer. Come off it Lois, we've heard some fantastic pub singers,
Then we had frisky 67 year old Eric there trying his luck singing and was getting more luck with 84 years old Dorothy who called him her toy boy.
He couldn't resist kissing her, wow.. we couldn't believe this guy, in fact we were expecting someone to emerge any minute with a bucket of water.  No kidding.
It had an effect on Dorothy she couldn't remember the words to "We'll Meet Again " when it was her turn to show her talent.
Simon all smiles called Dorothy a little minx.

Yes, I saw the show last night--I thought the funnniest was the middle-aged-lady--who sang "Que sera sera"--all the time looking up towards the ceiling--maybe hoping for divine interevention--she reminded me of a 5 year old, desperately trying to sing and not forget the words.

And the guy who sang "Zip a dee doo dah" with the charisma of wet cabbage, and the older guy who sang "Oh boy", but managed to keep it all on one note !!

Pregnant Kate virtually admitted that she had applied, so that they could get some money and get out of their one-bedroom flat--but on saying that she had quite a nice voice.

I would have been quite alarmed by the last guy--he looked as though he was going to explode---and then put an Italian curse on Louis!!

Oh-- and the guy who had already made a record, and gave Simon the chance of producing it--was he the same guy who gave everyone his card in case they changed their mind--quite an action packed show--a minimal amount of real talent--but I think they are going through without us seeing them. I cannot remember seeing any groups--let alone any decent groups--but I guess there must be some. Otherwise what will Louis do
