It is coming out in February together with the audio of the book. The working title at the moment is 'Words & Music. Not long to go now - all I have to do is finish it in time!!!

Yes, and I have discovered better tapes than ever before issued (Not even used on the vinyl in the 60's) - and some surviving session reels too!

Once the details are finalized all will be revealed on this site!

Will Matt Monro Sings Hoagy Carmichael be available separately from the audio book of The Singer's Singer?

Can you explain the reasoning, please?

The Hoagy sessions are part of a package called Words and Music.

The words being the talking book and the music being the Hoagy.

This will be at a budget price point so look at it as a free talking book with the album - or even a free album with a talking book!

There are no plans to issue either separately at present. The Hoagy discs have been remastered from the original session tapes for the first time in High Res 24bit/96K

The reasoning is that the project was planned as just the talking book. EMI wanted to add a music disc and Michele decided that she didn't want it to be just another "Greatest Hits/Best of" so chose the Hoagy.

Thank you for the explanation, Richard.

It worries me slightly that this means that the album will only sell to those of us who are already dyed-in-the-wool Matt Monro fans. This album is Matt's masterpiece, and it might just be possible that it would win him some more fans if it were released by itself.

(I don't intend any criticism of you or Michelle – I'm sure that negotiating with a company like EMI is far more complicated than I can possibly imagine.)

Welcome to the forum, Inky.

I think most of the forum members would consider The Late Late Show to be Matt's masterpiece. It's impossible to top those four Capital albums.

Maybe I would rate the HC album higher had he recorded the opening verse to Stardust and omitted Small Fry and a few others. I do love IGAWYVW and One Morning in May though.

The title of the Combo Audio Book and Hoagy CD "Words & Music" is he same as the Budget CD With Matt & Malcolm Lockyer that was a rip-off copy of the Decca Label recording of early Matt - "Blue & Sentimental". This may cause some confusion on ordering the new release in February.
