40TH ANNIVERSARY OF BBC RADIO 2

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Mon Oct 01, 2007 1:02 am

We have been listening to Radio 2. today and have enjoyed what we have heard. Unable to listen the entire day, but by choosing the programmes that we thought would appeal.
Good to hear Ed Stewart again presenting Junior Choice, and Michael Aspel reliving " Family Favourites" that provided some good music with families and servicemen exchanging messages.
Super programme with Brian Matthew with interviews including the one that we most wanted to hear, with Matt talking about how his career all started with Winifred Attwell first getting hold of that important record, when and how "Portrait Of My Love" was recorded and then to hear "My Kind Of Girl ". Fantastic.!!!
The wonderful Pianist Semprini followed that brought back memories to us along with an amusing edition of " Round The Horne " and finished with Sing Something Simple.

Hi L&H. Yes, I really enjoyed radio2 on Sunday, especially Junior Choice with Ed Stewart and Kenny Everett's show. I never heard these programmes before, so it was good to get a chance to hear them. It really was a golden time for radio...........
