Hi Lena and Harry--my friend bought one of those to keep the children amused when they drove to Europe.

I guess it beats "I Spy"

Marian, As we've said before, technology is wonderful and now so advanced. These DVDs will probably work to perfection
We bought our son a personal TV when they first came on the market and we were amazed at these at that time. It was a miracle until we found that we couldn't get a picture due to the poor signal.

Hello Lena and Harry and all. Well Italy beat France on penalty's to win the 2006 World Cup Final. Not a classic game my any mean's, was it.

But the main talking point of the game has to be the sending off of Zinadine Zidane. What a terrible way to end a career. I know he was probably provoked into doing it, but it looked terrible watching it on TV.
I hope the incident doesn't mar his retirement as he was such a wonderful world class player.

Hi Robert

You are right, the game wasn't exactly a classic, and all anyone is going to remember is ZZ's sending off.
That was a shocking thing to do, from somebody so experienced as well.
Prior to the game, I wouldn't of minded the French winning just because of Zidane, such a graceful player.
But after he did the head-butt, I wasn't so hot on the idea!
Still can't believe he did it...
Anyway, that's the end of diving, butting and WAG's for another 4 years! :)

Hi Robert and Gray, we enjoyed the football but it certainly wasn't the best World Cup Tournament that we've seen. Except for about two games the standard of play, the fouls, the refereeing.???
It's surely like taking money under false pretences. :x

Hi Lena and Harry, Gray and all. I agree with you Lena and Harry, not a very exciting World Cup, was it, except when England were trying to play, of course. There wasn't much goal mouth action throughout the tournament. As you say there were only a couple of stand out matches. Germany vs. Italy in the semi final was about the best match in my opinion.

Hi All

Did anyone watch England in the Rugby World Cup Semi Final at the weekend?
I thought it was really nerve jangling, I'm looking forward to the final, but I think South Africa will win.

Certainly did Gray - it really was 'edge of the seat' stuff! Particularly with a few misses from Johnny Wilkinson before he found his form again. :o  I thought it was all going to start falling apart in the middle, with the players showing their frusrtation a little and giving away some stupid penalties. But they really held it together in the end.

As you say, the South Africans could take some beating, particularly as we've already lost once to them 36-0 in the last month!

Yes Gray, it certainly was nerve jangling stuff. I was so nervous watching the match, especially in the second half when England could not get out of their own half.........................until of course, near the end of the match, when they just HAD to get into the French half, to give Johnny his kicking chances

The final v. South Africa will be closer, a LOT closer than last time  until this summer (when England sent out an understrength touring party to SA, and lost heavily) - England had a very good record against the Springboks, winning five on the bounce.

Yes Grey, thought we had it in the bag, the Rooney goal and then Two for the Russians in Four minutes in the second half.
We're watching Scotlands game now, with the sound down and music up loud.

:)

It wasn't good news for Scotland either, which saves my bacon at work as I work with a few! :)
Gosh, next summer is going to be dreadful if we don't make the finals, and it's looking very doubtful now :(

England gave it their best shot, but the South Africans were just that little bit too good :( but if Mark Cueto's try had been allowed to stand, it could have been a different kettle of fish  it was a close match after all.

Hi Robert

England did better than I expected, I was disapointed we didn't get awarded the try.
Never mind, they did really well to reach the final :(

Has anyone got over England's performance last night?
(Edgar, you don't count - :))

We really aren't as good as we'd like to think we are, are we? :(
