I have a vague recollection of hearing this somewhere, but I'm not at all sure it's correct..

Question.. What was Matt's nickname when he was in the Army?

I'm sure it was his nickname at sometime, but I can't remember when :? :? :? :? Hopefully it will come to me, or someone else will know.

I'm afraid I'm stuck in the thorns with this one Lena and Harry
I know I've read about this recently, as I mentioned to Peter at the time, I hadn't known Matt had had this nickname. I don't think it's in Michele's book. I remember it was something to do with him being able to get out of brambles without getting scratched.
Peter said it wouldn't have been during his schooldays, as there were no brambles in Shoreditch!!

Matt was evacuated to South Luffenham, Rutland during the war where he was nicknamed "Bramble. because he could get into the hedgerows for berries while the other boys couldn't. 8)

Ah no he wasn't known as that in school Marian, apparently his nickname was a closely guarded secret from the teachers, due to half inching berries etc, otherwise his gas mask would have been confiscated.
