ALFIE BOE

Post by Marian » Mon Jan 03, 2011 10:08 am

I discovered Alfie Boe over Christmas, having viewed the wonderful DVD of the 25th Anniversary celebrations from the O2 in which Alfie takes the main role of Jean Valjean. What a terrific voice he has.
I have since found out quite a lot about him, another dream come true story, of a young boy from Fleetwood the youngest of 9 children, who began work in a car factory and having worked his way up the hard way now has the title of Britain's favourite tenor.
I have just bought his newly released album "Bring Him Home" which has entered the album charts at #24. Not bad, as it was only released last Monday.
Now to collect the others I've missed so far! :D

I saw Alfie Boe on Tv some time last year---but I cannot remember the show he was on---a great voice.

It might have been to do with opera--maybe the Pop star tp Opera singer show--but I am not sure. Did he do a duet with Darius ???

Over the New Year holiday weekend there was a programme on BBC2 about the 25th anniversary of "Les Miserables" hosted by Matt Lucas (of "Little Britain" Fame) and Alfie Boe was interviewed and shown rehearsing for the show. He has also appeared in productions at the English National Opera on St Martins Lane in London in the last year.

Yes, I enjoyed the programme Jon. Alfie has been on tv several times recently to promote his new album... BBC Breakfast, This Morning and Daybreak. All on Youtube. There is also a great little video where he sings Nessun Dorma in Matt Lucas's kitchen, it's called 'Alfie Warbles a Bit.' He sure does!!

Very nice :) I went straight for the volume when Alfie started "warbling" (only because it was so loud to start off with ) .................my mum likes him :) she went into town to buy his album...........but forgot  but she did buy two Matt albums from HMV (remember them, they are a lot like Woolies ......................nearly extinct  :| ).....................have you heard the news Jeff, 60 HMV shops are closing this year throughout the country :(

Apparently Alfie's 2 year old daughter Grace doesn't like her Daddy singing, she says "too loud daddy"!
I'm sure she'll come to like it in time. :D
I hope your mum does get the album Robert, it's excellent. I think this is the only place I dare say that I'm not too keen on Matt Lucas joining him for the duet of Impossible Dream though. :|
Yes it's a shame about the HMV stores closing, but you can understand why. :|

Gorgeous songs aren't they Sandra? I thought Alfie was older from Les Mis due to brilliant makeup, so I now have to adjust to Mum status rather than other unfortunately! I have two children older than him. I do love his voice though,
and his smile!!
:D :D He's signing copies of his new album at Dress Circle today.

I think there would be quite a few in the queue before me Robert!
Apart from that, he's happily married to U.S actress Sarah Jones with a two year old daughter Grace.
Waiting to see where his album is in the charts today, it came in at #24 last week. :D

I now know..."Bring Him Home" is up nine places to 15. :D :D
