Prayers for Jack Jackson

Post by Michele Monro » Sat Mar 19, 2011 5:16 pm

I am really sorry to have to report that our dear member Jack Jackson has just passed away. I actually only spoke to him two weeks ago when we were trying to find out about Ed Harrod and although I knew he was very ill I certainly didn't think he was near the end of his innings. He was one of Matt Monro's staunchest supporters over the years and helped me enormously in putting the discography together in the special edition of the book. He had one of the largest collections of my dad's music I have come across and I dearly hope the two of them are talking music in the skies above us.

My deepest condolence goes to his wife Collette and his family and I am sure you will join me in sending a prayer that their pain may be lighter in the ensuing months.

So sorry to hear this very sad news. Jack had an amazing collection of Matt's music, second to none.
Our thoughts are with Collette and his family at this very sad time.

What sad news to hear of Jack's passing, and so soon after Ed.
Jack was a staunch and loyal supporter of Matt's music, and we appreciate all the help that Jack has given and his dedication.
Our thoughts go out to Jack's wife Collette and to the family.

We were very sad to hear about Jack passing away. He had been ill for quite some time but remained very positive throughout his treatment and always maintained his interest in Matt and his music.

It will seem strange to us when Michele puts the April Newsletter on the site as Jack didn't have the internet so to keep him up to date we always ran a printed copy off for him and he and Harry would enjoy speaking about it when he received it.

R.I.P. Jack and our thoughts are with Colette and all Jack's family.

Apparently once he went in to the hospice one of his family members taped some of dad's music off for him so he could play it on a tape recorder and the nurses were all smiling as they passed his door and he was singing away. It made him much brighter, I'm sure they're all having a drink together in the skies that await us all.
