Chris Evans Breakfast Show

Post by Michele Monro » Thu Mar 24, 2011 3:39 pm

Not sure how many of you heard the Chris Evans Breakfast Show yesterday or today. Both are available in the Radio section of the forum if you want to listen back or on BBC IPlayer. Anyway I just had this email through which was sent to Chris Evans and wondered if any of you might want to write a similar suggestion and send it through to chris.evans@bbc.co.uk

Hi Chris

Just a suggestion, but why not play a Matt track after the 8 o'clock news on one day during the week (every week) as you do with Candy Man on Fridays?

He really was our best singer ever - world class and deserves such an accolade.

Cheers.

Hi Michele---I posted this morning on another link about the show this morning--I was so excited--you sounded so bright and breezy.

Brilliant idea--I look forward to Candy Man every Friday --it would be great to do the same for Matt.

Maureen and Harry have already emailed Chris for you to go on "The One show"-I will do the same.

I didn't know Chris did The One Show. I put myself forward for it last year and they turned me down - no accounting for taste. Someone suggested it would be wonderful if I did the equivalent of what I do on Siren every wednesday on Chris' show but I can hardly say this myself....

Chris does "the One show" every Friday---which is apparently the reason that Adrian Chiles left.

You could always listen to it on the "Listen again" feature.

I expect Richard would archive them here, as he regularly does with the Siren broadcasts. :D

From the Premier website today...

March 28, 2011

On the Feedback programme on BBC Radio 4, 27 minutes into programme a listener criticises Terry Wogan's successor Chris Evans for interrrupting Matt Monro's record 'On Days Like These' with "inane comments".

The Feedback presenter then plays out the programme with the song. The continuity announcer then says "what a voice."

Yes, that is true-Chris did talk a little during the song--but not actually "inane comments"--it was names of places-and it was not while Matt was singing.

I heard it too and agree that they weren't 'inane' but in context to the story he told before the songs about the sunshine etc.

It's his style of presenting though. He does it with a lot of songs and can't say it to be a 'snub' or anything. The song made my drive to University very cheery indeed at that god-forsaken hour! haha
