We always believe that a home without music must be sad, and your Dad appreciated good music then Sandra, and left you with some special memories. Margaret Whiting's name and songs never became as popular here in the UK as Jo Stafford, Rosemary Clooney, and Ella Fitzgerald for instance, who all recorded the song, also there were over 60 recordings of Moonlight In Vermont including musician and orchestral versions, but Margaret made the song her own

Yes, she was a fine singer, Lena and Harry, starnge how some of these singers never got the same recognition over here as others. Patti Page is another, she had countless hits in the U.S. but only a minor hit over here, and still going strong today.

Listening to the best of The Korgis right now

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Hmmm..right now I'm listening to a copy of my Dad's lp called "Matt Monro's Best" on Liberty records. I had to clean it up as it was in a storage box for over 25 plus years. Also to even things out the new Beady Eye lp and "Dedication" by the Bay City Rollers. Like I said I'm eclectic!

Hey Robert,
I guess my Dad just bought the lps when he was in the Navy and liked the way Matt sang , I wouldn't say he was a major fan, but a fan being that Matt Monro was big in the Phillipines and I guess all him and his ship mates liked his music. My Mom and Dad said there was even a Tagalog (Philippines National Language) version of Walk Away. My mom even recalls the lyrics and when I played the Walk Away record she can sing the Tagalog words. They even translate similar to the English lyrics.

Yes, interesting story Eman.

I would love to hear Walk Away sung in Tagalog. Perhaps somewhere in youtube.
How is the Beady Eye album? I like Oasis, but can't imagine the group without Noel.

Hey Paul,
Nice to meet you! The new Beady Eye lp (I bought it in the vinyl format) is pretty good. It's just like the Oasis of old. I tried to look for the Tagalog version on you tube and no one has posted it. I remember the record though my folks had but it is long gone. Probably lost in transit from all the moving around we did. However the lyrics do translate some what to "Walk Away" but not literally, the meaning of the song is the same though.

I have just been listening to The Magic Of Robert Earl cd tonight. I had to fight Harry for the last remaining copy of this in HMV a couple of years ago.
