I was basing it on the last Fans Reunited where you arrived the day before. That's when we had our fish and chips dinner. We will be at the activities all day on Sept 14 and having the Indonesian food, but we can go for drinks afterwards if we're up for it.

We have just realised we will have to come down on the Tuesday as the hotels we have tried don't let you in until 3 p.m.

I have just rebooked an extra day, so I am here on Tuesday night too--my hotel's booking in time was 2.00, and I was envisaging arriving at Friends Reunited with all my luggage, and changing there. !!!!

I contacted the hotel directly, and she was very helpful.

Where are you staying --hope we will be able to get together on Tuesday night-Paul is still working on it.

It may seem strange for someone in US to arrange a meal over here--but he is just so good at it !!!

Checked again by telephone and the London Lodge Hotel is def. booked up.
We may have to risk the renovation works in the Kensington Close Hotel as reasonable prices-but as I phoned after 5 reservations closed until tomorrow.
Didn't realise it would be such hard work

I did not expect everything to be booked so soon--but I know single rooms are hard to come by-when I saw Paul's post I was straight on the web, and when they said only 1 single room available at a special price, I just had to go for it--and hope that I had the right hotel, date , etc etc-luckily I did. By then it was gone midnight, but I did not want to risk waiting till morning. I gather it is a fairly small hotel-only 28 rooms.

I am sure you will get in somewhere--lots of places in Kensington, but it is nice to get a good price.

I checked my trusty London Mapguide and found the following hotels spotted on the map and close to the London Lodge Hotel in Kensington. Unfortunately I don't have time to verify whether they're still open or check their tripadvisor.com reviews, but this may be helpful to people searching for a smaller hotel. London hotels do fill up quickly -- especially in autumn during the trade show season

Oliver
Lexham Hall
Lexham
Atlas
Apollo
Topaz
Majestic
Swallow international
Europe
Adelphi
Ambassadors
Ashburn
Shebourne
Elizabetta

One of those "Lexhams" is now the easyhotel, but I don't know which one. I need to get a new London Mapguide. It's the best thing I've ever purchased.

Thanks for the list Paul.
We thought we were sorted with the Parkcity but the rate had shot up by £50 since yesterday!
Going with your list some of the hotels are no longer there i.e.Atlas ansd Apollo.
The Lexham Hall and Lexham are the same now.
Some of the others were bad reviews on Trip Advisor but we have chosen 'The Ashburn' from your list and got a good rate online.

Looking forward to meeting you and everyone in September. :D

I'm staying at The Union Jack Club in Waterloo (Ex-Serviceman's and families hotel) Two night's for £47 single room a night. Looked at Kensington and the prices were mad, including The Premier Inn! However, I will be interested in a Tuesday night get together with you all. I will be coming down from Glasgow earlier that day.

The deal includes; a 0530 call, 10 mile cross country run, a cold shower and a short fat hairy RSM on the parade ground shouting " I'm your mother now" whilst doing some close order drill.....only joking!! My parents stayed there, when they attended a family wedding at St Pauls Cathedral last year. The event will be just wonderful. It will be the the first time a person with Scottish blood in his family actually buys a round of drinks for everybody. They produce trousers up here with pockets in the turnups and the phrase "sorry, I can't quite get to my change, comes too mind!!

Robert, You can get married in St Paul's if you or anybody in your immediate family hold a honours ie; MBE, OBE, CBE, Damehood and knighthood. There are Armed Forces Chapels within it, that you can get married and have the recetion in it as well. My parents, uncle and second cousin have all served in The Royal Navy.
