Very interesting choices--in some cases quite different which is good to see. I have never heard of the song "Natalie" by Shirley Bassewy-although I confess I am not familiar with all of her recordings-I expect Terence would know it-he is a great Shirley Bassey fan.

Again you have listed 2 of my favourites--the Michael Buble track, plus the Jack Jones track--they are 2 of my favourite ever songs.

I am nearly ready for another [different dozen]--some did not make it last time ,as i just ran out of spaces--and others are new since then.

Just a bit of info Mariana about the song Natalie sung by Shirley Bassey. This is on a CD entitled Shirley Bassey This Is My Life. It's an excellent CD with a really good selection of songs.

Natalie was written by Norman Newell who wrote quite a few of Shirley's hits and there are three songs on this CD written by him.

Hope your selection is coming along nicely and we look forward to seeing it.

I do have a couple of Shirley Bassey cds--including my favourite "You take my heart away" that I only had on Lp, until just recently when it was released as half of a 2 in 1 cd.

Yes, my list is almost ready--as usual it was too long, so I am trying to knock a few out.

These lists often throw up a few surprises.

By the way Maureen & Harry, I got to listen to a little of "Natalie" on Amazon---I have definately never heard it before--I only heard a little --but it sounded good.

Yes Robert, Maria is superb. Our alternative choice would have been On Days Like These (pure magic).

We have been collecting music of all kinds for many years which has enabled us to gather such a varied collection. However, Matt always has and always will be the top of our list.

Thanks to modern technology we are able to select many CDs from our collection and make up our own compilation CD from these as Harry & I do differ sometimes in our choices and this gives us the best of both worlds.

Glad Mariana you managed to listen to a snippet of Natalie. The song is actually a very powerful ballad and as you would expect, Shirley Bassey sings it with real passion.

It's my turn now to head to Amazon and look for You Take My Heart Away as I don't think I know this one.

Snap , John--here is my new list--again, completely different to last time--some just missed out by the skin of their teeth, and others are recently new tracks-so here goes-

LONG BEFORE I KNEW YOU---DICKIE VALENTINE
THE GREATEST MAN I NEVER KNOW----REBA MACENTIRE
MORE----BOBBY DARIN
HERE , THERE AND EVERYWHERE---BEATLES
I BELIEVE IN YOU---BOBBY DARIN
A LITTLE TRAVELLING MUSIC PLEASE---BARRY MANILOW

i'M ALL OVER IT NOW----JAMIE CULLUM
CHASING PAVEMENTS---ADELE
JUST HAVN'T MET YOU YET---MICHAEL BUBLE
THE MAN WHO CAN'T BE MOVED--THE SCRIPT
KING OF ROCK AND ROLL--PREFAB SPROUT
VIVA LA VIDA--COLDPLAY.

A strange mixture you may think---but everytime any of those songs come on my ipod, i have to repeat it several times--they all have something "special" for me.

We really enjoyed reading your choices John especially as some of them took us down memory lane. There have been so many good songs and singers over the years that sometimes it is easy to forget them and this topic has brought them to our notice again.

A good selection there Mariana and there were a couple of favourites that we liked too but couldn't include them in our list because we would have gone over the 12 mark!

Thanks Mariana we have found the Shirley Bassey 2 in 1 CD.

A nice selction of songs again Marian. Nice to see Dickie Valentine there amongst them, he was a good singer, wasn't he? I also like Adele's Chasing Pavements, you have sent me that one on one of your cd's. Barry Manilow was a favourite of my Mum's too.
Thanks also for your comments Mauren and Harry. In fact when I did my old list I hadn't even hear of a couple of these artists listed on my new one.
The Carnival Is Over has always been a favourite, my Mum and Dad had the ep. And I think Ronnie Carroll's version of "World Of No Return" is just beautiful, originally recorded by Nat King Cole, I think, and his version is just as nice. And I am sure Robert will be pleased I have added the Margaret Whiting number, this is a great song. :D

Hi Gray-I just love "Viva la vida"---but even though I have printed the lyrics out--I have no idea what it all means---does anyone else
have a clue ???
