DANCING ON ICE

Post by Marian » Mon Jan 07, 2008 6:21 pm

Sounds like an interesting line-up for the new series. I'll be watching!

The new stars of TV show Dancing On Ice have been unveiled.

The 12 celebrity contestants have been in secret training for the past few weeks - and have already notched up some eye-watering injuries.

Pop star Gareth Gates, TV presenter Sarah Greene, ex-Hear'Say singer Suzanne Shaw, tennis ace Greg Rusedski, singer Samantha Mumba and former Page Three model Linda Lusardi are among the hopefuls.

The line-up is completed by former Olympic medallist Steve Backley, cleaning guru Aggie Mackenzie, GMTV's Michael Underwood, Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain, and TV presenters Natalie Pinkham and Tim Vincent.

The ITV1 show was launched at London's Natural History Museum.

Every one of the contestants is nursing some painful injuries and Lusardi, 49, has had the worst of it. She is skating through gritted teeth after breaking a bone in her foot during a nasty fall.

Coming off the ice and slipping on a pair of comfy shoes, she said: "I dislocated my foot and broke a metatarsal - hence the granny shoes. I had to spend Christmas without my high heels, which was more traumatic than breaking my foot!"

How Clean Is Your House? star MacKenzie, 52, has also been in the wars. "I've had lots of injuries. I have to wear a permanent support on my left knee. I've got bruised ribs, a sore back, and I can't turn over in bed without groaning," she said.

Other injuries include torn ligaments, twisted knees and bruised legs.

The show begins this Sunday with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby presenting.

I would like to watch both "Dancing on Ice" and the new period drama "Lark Rise to Candleford" on Sundays. It looks like it might just be possible from the timing schedule.

It sounds an interesting selection--although I do not have a clue who Natalie Pinkham is---but I have heard of all the others.

The Dancing on Ice Champions is on tomorrow [Sunday] about 3.55 on ITV2-I think I may have said it was on today

I didn't get to see much of the actual show as the men of the house were watching the darts final.
I did get to see the results show though.
Like many of these shows, they get better as time goes on, as I'm sure this one will. :D
For the first week though I thought most of the contestants did well. :D

I did watch this show--most of them did well for their first time out--it was a very long show---about 2 hours--even though only 2 judges at a time commented on the dancers.

Hard to pick a winner at this stage.

I watched the show and like the previous Dancing On Ice, again we have presenter Phillip Schofield --who somehow speaks as if this show is specifically for the hard of hearing. :? :D and Holly Willoughby by his side, and of course Torvill And Dean. I have to give credit to the entrants whatever their age for entering into this competition. Goodness me, cracked heads, fractured bones.
They were all good considering it was the first week, and it was a shame that Sarah Greene was the first to go.
It was nice to see her husband Mike Smith in the audience. He was a great presenter of programmes and rarely off of our screens in the Fifties and Sixties.
I particularly liked Chris Fountain from Hollyoaks, Natalie Pinkham, Tv and Sports presenter, Gareth Gates, and Suzanne Shaw.

Well, Natalie's gone! That was a real surprise. I think she skated very well compared with a lot of them. I particularly liked Suzanne Shaw tonight, and Gareth was good too.

That was a surprise that Natalie was voted off.
I thought that Aggie did quite well, in fact i thought a few of them could have been given higher marks than the panel gave them.
Chris is good but needs to be taking it more seriously, but i agree Suzanne Shaw was very good and Gareth Gates has so much confidence.
I've a feeling too that Samantha could go far.

I see that Michael Underwood has had to pull out of the show after breaking his ankle in practice.

I just spotted that on teletext about 10 minutes ago--bad luck for him--but just shows how dangerous it is---Poor Suzanne last week could have had a really nasty injury to her head , if the skates had been a fraction nearer.

Anyone see the show this week? I thought there seemed a big improvement in the majority of the skating, and the scores of the judges went up too.

Yes, I saw the show also--I thought Zaraah had a really good start---providing some much needed competition for Chris and Suzanne.

I think Aggie is getting through on the "Kate Garraway/Fiona Phillips factor"--but on saying that, I think she is really brave to even have a go.

I forgot to mention Zarrah, the new girl, taking Michael's place.
I thought she was very good too, especially as she had to have a new partner from the one she'd been practising with.
She's one to look out for I'm sure.

Newcomer to the ice, Zarrah seemed quite relaxed and perhaps could surprise.
Wouldn't be surprised if Steve Backley or Greg Rusedski are in the dance off.

It looks as if Jane Torvill could be skating alone this Sunday. Partner Chris Dean has had a knee op.

Oh Well--Aggie has finally gone---I have to admit that her dance tonight was the worst that I have seen---I think maybe it was the wrong song choice---"I feel Pretty" did not seem right !!

She had a good try, at least, and carried on after slipping over, I guess that was not easy.
