Mickie's Special Day

Seeing that we are such a close knit family, I thought it would be nice if you let us know the dates in the year that are special to you.

Mickie's Special Day

Post by Michele Monro » Mon Jul 19, 2010 7:52 pm

It has been an extremely hard day today for obvious reasons but I thank everyone who left a posting or sent an email or card. It does provide a comfort to the family. As anyone who has lost a close family member knows, birthdays are one of the worst reminders that that loved one is not here to celebrate their life with you.

Losing mum has been so difficult. I miss her so much and although I'm lucky that the book has kept me extremely busy, it saddens me that she is not here to share the aftermath with me. Losing dad was hard enough but at least I had mum left, now there is an emptiness in my heart that will never be filled.

I feel extremely blessed that I have the support of the fans worldwide, it is comforting to know that someone is thinking of me and the pain that today brings.
THANK YOU

Mums are special. The pain of missing them never seems to go away, one just gets better at dealing with it. Birthdays and special days are difficult.

I have just read this and the following posts and can relate to both of you, as you said Michele losing one's dad is bad enough but you still have mum, when you lose her it's the end of life as we knew it - somehow we survive and yes time is a healer but you never, ever forget and you never stop missing them.

Dear Michele! So sorry for your loss. I lost my mom on Oct. 15, 1999. I was with her until her last breath and it pains me even today to think of that loss all these many years ago. I always refer to her as my most treasured human friend. I just posted on my FB page that I think this London trip is happening because of her. I believe she watches over me and will always love me. She never went to a foreign country but loved African wildlife. She loved the story of Elsa, the lioness, and Joy Adamson and her husband. She loved your dad's song Born Free. I love her and I thank her for her love for me as I'm sure you tell your mum and dad how much you love and miss them every day. May it bring you some comfort to know that your parents were blessed with a daughter who loved them well!
